Monetary Dispute Leads to Attempted Shooting in Delhi's Geeta Colony

New Delhi, Aug 13 (PTI) – A 25-year-old man was allegedly shot at by three individuals following a scuffle over a monetary dispute in Delhi's Geeta Colony area, police reported on Wednesday.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:30 PM on Tuesday near Taj Enclave, according to authorities.

The victim, Shivam Sharma, a resident of Jagatpuri, informed the police that he had loaned money to a couple, Sheetal and her husband Sonu, who reside in Kundan Nagar. Despite multiple requests for repayment, the couple failed to return the money, as stated by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Prashant Gautam.

Earlier on Tuesday, Sharma engaged in a heated argument with the couple near the Jagatpuri red light. Later in the day, Sharma, accompanied by his friend Jatin Nagpal, went to Taj Enclave to address the issue. There, they were confronted by three men — Shadab, Harshu, and Raman — leading to a scuffle, as per the DCP's account.

During the altercation, Shadab allegedly brandished a firearm and fired two shots at Sharma.

"The complainant managed to avoid injury by lowering himself as the shots were fired," the DCP remarked.

A case has been lodged at the Geeta Colony police station under various sections related to attempted murder and the Arms Act, with efforts ongoing to apprehend the accused.

Additionally, the police noted that Sharma has a previous case registered against him under section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code.

Further investigations are in progress.
