Mamata Banerjee Reaffirms Battle Against Injustice on Independence Day

Kolkata, Aug 15 (PTI) – Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee reaffirmed her commitment to fighting for the dignity of every Indian, stating that Bengal, which once stood up against the oppression of foreign rulers, will continue to confront any form of injustice.

In her Independence Day message, she expressed confidence that the people would support her in this ongoing struggle.

Paying homage to freedom fighters such as Chittaranjan Das, Khudiram Basu, and Prafulla Chaki, Banerjee remarked, "Bengal has a storied history of standing firm against foreign domination, injustice, and oppression. The spirit of resistance courses through our veins. Even today, we rise against injustice."

She also acknowledged the contributions of luminaries like Rammohan Roy, Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, Ramakrishna, and Rabindranath Tagore, saying, "I extend my respects to all the visionaries who, since the Bengal Renaissance, have reshaped Bengal and India."

"In the days ahead, our endeavor to safeguard the honor of every citizen will continue, guided by the principles laid down by these pioneers. Our mission is to realize the vision that our freedom fighters had for the nation, for which they were willing to sacrifice everything. I am confident that in this endeavor, the people will stand alongside us," she concluded.
