Maharashtra crisis: Uddhav Thackeray tests positive for Covid amid buzz that he'll step down as CM

As Kamal Nath. the Congress observer for Maharashtra asserted that Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray has tested positive for coronavirus, multiple news organisations on Wednesday reported that Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray may quit after a meeting Maha Vikas Aghadi leaders in Mumbai.

Nath said the chief minister will join the key meeting via video conferencing.

The source-based reports pointed out to the fact that the coalition of Shiv Sena, Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party may have lost the required numbers to stay in the government.

Shiv Sena rebel Eknath Shinde who along with other MLAs is camping in Assam had claimed that 46 lawmakers from his party were with him as he asserted that he remained loyal to the Hindutva ideology pushed by Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray.

The Shiv Sena hads 56 MLAs in the Maharashtra Assembly.
