Heavy Rainfall Alert in Madhya Pradesh: IMD Issues Warnings

Bhopal, Jun 26 (PTI) – On Thursday, many areas across Madhya Pradesh witnessed showers, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) anticipating sustained momentum. The forecast includes expectations of very heavy rainfall in five districts, alongside heavy downpours in 16 others over the coming 24 hours.

According to IMD, rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms was recorded across all districts of the state during the 24-hour period concluding at 8:30 am on Thursday.

Alirajpur reported very heavy rainfall, while the districts of Tikamgarh, Neemuch, Sehore, Dhar, Harda, and Barwani experienced heavy showers.

In Jabalpur, waterlogging occurred in certain areas, causing commuters to navigate flooded roads.

The IMD categorizes rainfall within the range of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm over 24 hours as 'heavy rain', whereas rainfall between 115.6 mm and 204.4 mm over the same duration is deemed 'very heavy rainfall'.

An orange alert, indicating potential very heavy rainfall, has been issued for isolated locations within five districts: Alirajpur, Jhabua, Balaghat, Mandla, and Dhar, effective for 24 hours ending at 8:30 am on Friday, informed a Bhopal office IMD official to PTI.

Additionally, a yellow alert has been announced for probable heavy rainfall in specific areas of Indore, Damoh, Jabalpur, Narsinghpur, Panna, Sagar, Seoni, Barwani, Dewas, Mandsaur, Narmadapuram, Raisen, Ratlam, Sehore, Ujjain, and Vidisha.

An orange alert advises relevant authorities to "be prepared" for any emergencies triggered by weather changes, while a yellow alert indicates that weather conditions could alter, thus residents should remain vigilant.
