Will approach Supreme Court against OBC reservation order says Yogi Adityanath

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Adityanath has said that his government will set up a commission to decide on the issue of OBC reservation in the urban local body elections.

He further added that the govt may approach the Supreme Court against the Allahabad High Court if required.

Earlier, The Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court on Tuesday quashed the state government's notification on urban local body elections and ordered holding the polls without reservation for the Other Backward Classes.

The two judge bench which was hearing a bunch of PILs challenging the preparation of the OBC reservation draft, annulled the December 5 notification issued by the Adityanath government saying OBC reservations cannot be notified till conditions laid down by the SC were fulfilled.

The Court also rejected UP govt's rapid OBC survey.
