Watch: Mizoram CM's daughter seen hitting doctor in viral video; Zoramthanga issues apology

As a video went viral purportedly showing the daughter of Mizoram's Chief Minister physically attacking a doctor, CM Zoramthanga issued a public apology.

In the video doing the rounds on social media, Milari Chhangte is allegedly seen hitting a dermatologist at a clinic on 17 August 2022. Chhangte allegedly hit the doctor after he asked her to take an appointment if she wanted to consult him, as per reports.

As the video went viral, the medical fraternity came out to support the doctor, and 800 doctors staged a protest on 20 August. In response, Mizoram CM issued an apology via his Instagram account.

Zoramthanga said, "We have nothing to justify or say in defence of our daughter's behaviour towards the doctor. We ask forgiveness from the doctor and the public." The CM also met the doctor to apologise for his daughter's behaviour. Zoramthanga also reportedly thanked the Indian Medical Association, or IMA, for not initiating "stringent" action against his daughter.

Earlier, Chhangte's brother had claimed that she "went out of control" due to mental stress.
