Watch: Injured kangaroos found in Bengal, days after one was rescued from alleged traffickers

In a concerning incident, three kangaroos were rescued in West Bengal, and two of them were severely injured.

Initially, two kangaroos were found near Gajoldoba in Jalpaiguri on the night of April 1. The marsupials had reportedly suffered critical injuries and were taken to Bengal safari park for treatment. They had been spotted by forest officials during patrolling.

Hours later, forest officials reportedly rescued another kangaroo from the Farabari-Nepali area in Dabgram forest range, also in Jalpaiguri. A probe has been initiated to find out how the kangaroos wound up at the forest, and by whom and why they were brought there.

Just days earlier, on March 13, a kangaroo had reportedly been rescued from a goods vehicle in Bengal's Alipurduar. Two persons from Hyderabad had reportedly been arrested for allegedly trafficking the marsupial.

Kangaroos are indigenous to Australia and New Guinea, but are kept in zoos in many parts of the world.
