Sword show by Congress ministers; police file FIR, BJP claims credit | Maharashtra

Two Maharashtra ministers found themselves in trouble after brandishing swords at a public event. Mumbai police reportedly filed an FIR against ministers Varsha Gaikwad, and Aslam Shaikh, both Congress leaders.

Congress party's minority department chairman Imran Pratapgarhi was also booked. The incident reportedly occurred on March 27 at the Rang Sharda Bhavan in Mumbai's Bandra. The trio brandished swords during an event to welcome Pratapgarhi.

BJP leader Mohit Kamboj claimed that his complaint led to the FIR. Kamboj claimed that he had been booked for a similar act in the past.

Reacting to the controversy, minister Aslam Shaikh reportedly said that the swords were brandished at the event as part of a Sikh tradition. He reportedly said that none of the people at the Congress event "danced with swords among people", and "didn't spread terror".
