Rat bites UP minister amid CM Yogi Adityanath's order to not stay at hotels during tours

An Uttar Pradesh minister suffered an unusual injury during a tour of the Banda district. Girish Chandra Yadav had to be rushed to a hospital in the early hours of May 2.

The minister for youth welfare and sports had woken up around 3 am feeling uneasy. Since he was staying at a circuit house in a forested area, he thought he might've been bitten by a poisonous insect.

When he was examined at the district hospital's trauma centre, the bite turned out to be from a rat or a shrew, which resembles a mouse. The incident caused alarm among the district officials, with the district magistrate (DM) and chief medical officer (CMO) rushing to the circuit house.

The minister felt fine later, and left for Lucknow. Minister GC Yadav was in Banda following Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's instructions to ministers to tour allotted districts for feedback on governance.

CM Yogi had also instructed ministers and officials to stay in government accommodations, and not hotels during trips.
