Mysuru: Water tank 'purified' with gomutra after Dalit woman drank water

In an incident of caste discrimination, a Dalit woman was sullied for drinking water from a water tank belonging to an upper caste in Mysuru’s Heggotara village.

The incident came to light after the villagers from an upper caste community were allegedly seen cleaning the mini tank with goumutra and draining its water.

According to a report by The New Indian Express, the Dalit woman on November 18 while returning from a wedding was reprimanded by the upper caste residents after they caught her drinking water from the tank. Soon after she left, the tank was cleaned using 'goutmutra.'

A notice has reportedly been put up on the tank that says 'water is meant for all.'

Meanwhile, taluk officials ordered probe into the matter following complaint by an Scheduled Caste youth.

Chamarajanagar Tahsildar has ordered probe into the matter seeking action against those guilty.
