Modi govt minister runs on treadmill at public event. Watch why | Anurag Thakur

India's Youth Affairs and Sports Minister was seen trying his hand at various sports activities. Anurag Thakur was at the Savitribai Phule Pune University to inaugurate the Khashaba Jadhav Sports Complex.

He ran on a treadmill, and also participated in a shooting exercise. In his inaugural address, Thakur referred to the recent controversy of a senior government official in Delhi getting a stadium vacated just to walk his dog.

The IAS officer, Sanjeev Khirwar was transferred to Ladakh, and his wife to Arunachal. Thakur said, "In Delhi, an IAS officer and his wife took their dog to a stadium, asking players to stand outside. Delhi govt did nothing. Centre intervened and transferred them to distant places. It is these athletes who win medals for country. No one should interfere with it."

The minister also unveiled statues at the university premises. One of the statues was a 6-foot-tall bronze likeness of Olympic wrestler Khashabha Jadhav. The other statue was of Vivekananda, the Indian philosopher who inspired countless freedom fighters.
