Maharashtra allows religious places to reopen from 1st day of Navratri, October 7

The Maharashtra government on Friday announced to re-open all temples and other religious places in the state from October 7 . Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, however appealed to the people to follow Covid protocols and maintain social distancing and wear masks while visiting religious places.

“The Maharashtra government has prepared itself for a third wave, but with all precautions, the state is allowing relaxations in various activities," he stated

In a further relaxation of Covid-19 restrictions, nineteen months after the shut down, schools will reopen their premises for in person classes for students from classes 5 to 12 in rural areas, and from classes 8 to 12 in urban areas from October 4.

Maharashtra on Friday reported 3,286 new coronavirus infections but has a strong recovery rate of over 97%.
