The situation in rain-battered Bengaluru continues to largely remain the same on Tuesday with flooded roads, vehicles partially inundated, traffic snarls and commuters wading through knee-deep water to reach their destination.

So much so, that tractors and boats are being used to ferry employees through waterlogged roads. A 23-year-old woman lost her life allegedly due to electrocution after she came into contact with an electric pole while navigating a road flooded with rain water at Siddapura, news agency PTI reported on Tuesday.

Power and water supply in several flood-hit areas in Bengaluru were cut off giving residents a hard time.

In the wake of flooding in Bengaluru, several private schools have declared holidays while others have switched to online classes until the situation gets better. Companies too have suggested employees work from home.

According to reports, the centre of India’s IT industry has received the highest rainfall in the last 42 years.

Adding to the woes, an alert for heavy rains in the north and south interior Karnataka over the next four days has been issued by the Indian Meteorological Department.
