IAF woman officer alleges two-finger test, intimidation after alleged rape

The woman officer filed a complaint with the Coimbatore Police stating that she was not satisfied with the enquiry done by the IAF authorities

A woman officer of the Indian Air Force, who accused her colleague of rape, has claimed that she was subject to the banned “two-finger test”. by medical officers at the academy. The two-finger test is a preliminary, unscientific examination of rape victims to ascertain sexual abuse.

She has further alleged that some of the officers intimidated her and forced her to withdraw the complaint.

An officer of the Indian Air Force College was arrested on Sunday for allegedly raping a colleague at the Indian Air Force College in Redfields, Coimbatore.

Reports said that the alleged sexual assault took place on September 9 and the woman had complained to the IAF authorities who allegedly did not take any action.

The woman officer then filed a complaint with the Coimbatore Police stating that she was not satisfied with the enquiry done by the IAF authorities.

Following the investigation, the accused officer, Flight Lieutenant Amrinder, was made to surrender and been sent to judicial custody and is currently lodged at Udumalpet jail.

In a statement, the Air Force said: "The IAF is cooperating with the police investigation and is also conducting an internal inquiry. We cannot comment any further as the matter is subjudice."
