<p>In her written reply in Lok Sabha, Irani said, "At present, there is no proposal under consideration of the Government to make provision for paid menstrual leave mandatory for all workplaces".</p>
<p>"Menstruation is a physiological phenomenon among women and only a small proportion of women/ girls suffer from severe dysmenorrhea or similar complaints; and most of these cases are manageable by medication," Irani said in her reply.</p>
<p>The minister added that various types of leave are available to a female government employee under the Central Civil Services (Leave) Rules, 1972 in the form of earned leave, half-pay leave, extraordinary leave, child care leave, commuted leave, maternity leave, leave on medical certificate, leave not due, etc.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Janata Dal (United) MP Giridhari Yadav on Friday said he does not upload questions on the Lok Sabha's website himself as he does not know how to operate a computer, as the Lower House decided to expel Trinamool Congress (TMC) member Mahua Moitra over the allegation that she shared her log-in credentials with outsiders and took a bribe for asking questions.</p>
<p>Yadav, who is a member of the Lok Sabha's ethics panel and was among the opposition MPs who staged a walkout from the committee meeting alleging that Moitra was asked personal and irrelevant questions, took a jibe at the ruling dispensation and questioned why BJP MP Nishikant Dubey was called for questioning while businessman Darshan Hiranandani was not.</p>
<p>He said this while participating in a debate on the report of the ethics committee in the Lok Sabha. The report was adopted and the House voted for expelling Moitra after the opposition members walked out.</p>
<p>"I do not upload my questions myself.... My PS (personal secretary) does it. I do not know how to operate a computer ... so my staff does that for me. I do not even remember my own password," the JD(U) leader said.</p>
<p>"This time I did not give any questions out of fear.... We are being intimidated," he added.</p>
<p>Speaker Om Birla objected to Yadav's comments.</p>
<p>"I request all members to prepare their own questions. This is against the norms. I can take action against members who do not prepare their own questions," Birla said.</p>
<p>Yadav said ethics panel chairperson Vinod Sonkar had said Hiranandani, who made the allegation through an affidavit that he paid a bribe to Moitra, would be called for examination but was not called eventually.</p>
<p>"It is the misfortune of this House that honourable Nishikantji was called for cross (examination), but Darshan Hiranandani was not called. If an affidavit can be trusted, why mistrust Nishikantji? "The ethics panel chairman had said Hiranandani would be called.... We call MPs but do not call capitalists who make allegations," he said.</p>
<p>The Lok Sabha expelled Moitra on Friday after holding her guilty of sharing her website log-in credentials with others and accepting gifts from a businessman to extend favours.</p>
<p>After a heated debate during which Moitra was not allowed to speak, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi moved a motion to expel the TMC leader for "unethical conduct", which was adopted by a voice vote.</p>
<p>The opposition members walked out of the House as the speaker started the voting process on the motion moved by Joshi.</p>
<p>The Ethics Committee of the Lok Sabha had recommended Moitra's expulsion from the House over the "cash-for-query" allegation.</p>

<p>He further said, "Whatever happened, they might act as if it's under the law under procedure.But what they did was unethical. Please understand one thing in India, people don't mind if you defeat your opponent, but they don't like it when you humiliate your opponent."</p>

<p>Soon after the expulsion of TMC MP Mahua Moitra from Lok Sabha, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi was asked about Mahua Moitra not being allowed to speak in the Lok Sabha during the debate despite the Trinamool's request to make her the speaker on behalf of the party during the debate.</p>
<p>To this, Pralhad Joshi talked about the cash-for-query row against Mahua Moitra and said, "Mahua accepted the allegation and she said that she got certain brands' scarf, lipstick, she did not deny all this."</p>
<p>Pralhad Joshi further said that in the Parliament, she asked around 60-65 questions but never asked about her constituency. Joshi further said, "She asked questions for money and it has been proved, she accepted it, what other proof do you want? This is the biggest proof."</p>
<p>He concluded by saying that several TMC MPs are happy with her expulsion.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to the report by the news outlet, the accused woman met the victim, identified as Rohit Gupta at his residence in Gurugram. The complainant told the police that the woman called him on October 1 expressing a desire to meet him the same day as she was visiting her aunt's place in the city.&nbsp;</p>
<p>When they both met, the woman allegedly spiked the victim's drink and made off with his gold chain, an iPhone 14 pro-max, his credit/debit cards and cash worth Rs 10000.</p>
<p>A case under relevant sections has been lodged with city police now.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Cash worth more than Rs 225 crore has been recovered so far from several locations linked to Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Dheeraj Sahu in Odisha and Jharkhand.</p>
<p>The Income Tax Department has been conducting raids on Sahu's premises on charges of tax evasion in the neighbouring states since December 6, 2023.</p>
<p>&nbsp;the Income Tax department on Friday found 156 bags of cash during search for the third consecutive day at Sudapada in Bolangir district, also linked to the distillery group, officials said.</p>
<p>From the bags, Rs 25 crore were counted till Friday afternoon, taking the total amount recovered so far to Rs 225 crore.</p>
<p>"Of the 156 bags, only 7/8 were counted and the amount found was Rs 25 crore," an official said.</p>
<p>The raids were carried out at Sambalpur, Bolangir, Titilagarh, Boudh, Sundargarh, Rourkela and Bhubaneswar.</p>
<p>Around Rs 200 crore in cash was seized on Thursday during raids at the Bolangir office of Baldeo Sahu &amp; Group of Companies, one of the biggest country-liquor manufacturers in western Odisha.</p>
<p>The raids were conducted at some houses, offices, and distillery at Sargipali in Sundargarh city on Wednesday.</p>
<p>The company is yet to provide any reaction to the raids.</p>

<p>The NHRC has issued notices to the Manipur government and the state's police chief over reports that at least 13 people were killed in a gunfight in Leithao village in the Tengnoupal district, officials said on Friday.</p>
<p>The incident, as reported, indicates a "lapse" on the part of the law enforcing agencies and the forces deployed to ensure peace and law and order in the state, the rights panel said in a statement.</p>
<p>The National Human Rights Commission observed that the reported loss of 13 lives in an area, which remained calm since the tension erupted in the state of Manipur in May this year, is "alarming and disturbing".</p>
<p>The rights panel has taken suo motu cognisance of a media report that "at least 13 people were killed in a gun fight in Leithao village near Saibol in the Tengnoupal district, Manipur. Reportedly, the incident happened on December 4," it said.</p>
<p>The commission has observed that the contents of the media report, if true, amount to a serious issue of human rights violations and is a matter of concern.</p>
<p>Accordingly, it has issued notices to the state's chief secretary and the director general of police, seeking a detailed report within two weeks, the statement said.</p>
<p>It should include the status of the FIR registered by the police and steps taken by the state government to ensure that such incidents of violence do not take place anywhere in the state, the rights panel said.</p>
<p>"The state of Manipur and its people have already suffered a lot. It is firmly reiterated that it is the duty of the state to protect the life and properties of its citizens both private and public and to promote fraternity and spirit of brotherliness amongst the communities," it said.</p>
<p>The NHRC since May 2023 has received several complaints from individuals, NGOs and activists alleging violation of human rights during the incidents of violence in Manipur, the statement said.</p>

<p>The commission said these matters are being considered by the full bench of the commission and were also discussed at length, during its camp sitting at Guwahati, Assam on November 17. Senior officers from the government of Manipur, as well as the representatives of the complainants and civil society were also present, the statement said.</p>
<p>According to the media report, carried on December 5, the village has nine houses and around 120 residents. However, no casualties were reported from among the villagers.</p>
<p>Prima facie, it is suspected that the victims of the violence could even be militants from Myanmar since the nearby hills from Leithao are a common route used by them to enter Manipur, it said.</p>
<p>Reportedly, this is the highest single-day loss of life in the violence that erupted in Manipur this year, it added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A police officer shot a woman in her head inside a police station in Aligarh while she was in the premises for her passport verification.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The CCTV footage of the incident shows Police Inspector Manoj Sharma taking a pistol from a colleague and loading it before pulling the trigger carelessly. The bullet directly hit the woman's head, and she fell to the ground.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The injured woman was promptly shifted to Jawahar Lal Nehru Medical College where doctors said her condition was serious.&nbsp;</p>
<p>An FIR has been registered against the police officer and he has been suspended from service.&nbsp;</p>
