Flash flood warning: red alert for Maharashtra, Telangana; orange for MP, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh amid rain

In a dire warning, the Indian Meteorological Department said that parts of central India and the west coast may see heavy rains which could even lead to flash floods.

A red alert has been sounded for Telangana and Maharashtra for 8 August, and an orange alert for all of central and western India, including Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat and Maharashtra, for 9 and 10 August.

Heavy precipitation of more than 200 mm is likely in the next 3-4 days. A low-pressure area has formed over northwest Bay of Bengal, and is likely to intensify into a depression.

Cloudburst in Himachal Pradesh's Chamba, roads washed away

Parts of Odisha and the Konkan region began receiving very heavy rainfall on 7 August. There will be reduced rainfall over Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Gangetic West Bengal because the depression is likely to move over Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat, as per the IMD.
