During the event, Priyal Dwivedi, who topped the MP Board Class 12 exams from Government Higher Secondary School, Amarpatan, expressed her wish to study at Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) but cited financial constraints.
In response, Dr. Yadav announced that the state government would sponsor her education at VIT. A total of 66 toppers from across districts were honored&mdash;each receiving ₹50,000 and a certificate. Priyal Dwivedi received ₹1 lakh, while her school was also awarded ₹1 lakh.

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Chief Minister Mohan Yadav stated that under passes are being constructed beneath the bridges so that wild animals including tigers could pass through them.
All this is being done by keeping wildlife conservation in mind while doing the road construction. This technique is an exemplary example of coordination between nature and development.
He was addressing the one day convention &ldquo; Coordination with Nature in Direction to realize Public Welfare from Public Construction,&rdquo; at Rabindra Bhawan on Tuesday.
He added that such kind of construction should be done which brings pride and will be useful to the next generation. By remaining in the limit of rules, engineers have to search solution through creative thinking. The projects should be best at the parameters of quality, cost and environment.
PWD Minister Rakesh Singh told that development is proves its significance when environment conservation is ensured along with structural progress. The 2000 years old Anicut dam of Trichi is still functioning and it is best example of Indian traditions.
He informed that in this direction, PWD is constructing Lok Kalyan Sarovar at that place from where mud was retrieved. On every kilometer, ground water recharge bore is being created. A pledge has been taken to do rain water conservation in every departmental building.
Environmentalist Gopal Arya said that development would prove its relevance only when it strikes balance with environment. If any country has to become developed from developing then its infrastructure should be strong and environment friendly.
He laid importance on plantation drive. Bhaskaracharya institution&rsquo;s Director General TP Singh highlighted the importance of PM Gatishakti project.

The State government is also dedicated to the welfare of women, focusing on maximising their participation in education, health, entrepreneurship and jobs. Efforts are being made to empower rural women in the state through the Rural Livelihood Mission, he said.
He further said that new opportunities are being created for women through the Sashakt Behana Utsav Yojana and the Chief Minister&rsquo;s Women Self-Help Group Empowerment Scheme. Under the Mukhyamantri Udyamshala Yojana, incubation facilities will be provided to more than 15,000 entrepreneurs, self-help groups, and Lakhpati Didis over the next three years. Participants will receive business skill training, legal and licensing support, co-working spaces, investment assistance and a robust marketing network that connects local products to the global market.
The CM emphasised that under the &lsquo;Vocal for Local&rsquo; and &lsquo;Local to Global&rsquo; initiatives, launched under the PM&rsquo;s leadership, the House of Himalayas umbrella brand has been created to realise the goal of empowering Lakhpati Didis and giving global recognition to local products. Currently, 35 high-quality products are being made available to consumers, with plans for exports to other countries soon.
He said that approximately five lakh women are currently engaged in organised businesses through 68,000 self-help groups in the state. Thanks to the Mukhyamantri Sashakt Behana Utsav Yojana launched in 2023, our sisters have collectively generated sales worth over Rs seven crore by setting up more than 27,000 stalls at various events. More than 1.63 lakh women in the State have become lakhpati.
To support the processing and marketing of products made by women self-help groups, 49 growth centers have been established. Additionally, for effective marketing, there are 33 nano packaging units, 17 Saras centres, three State-level marketing centres and eight bakery units operating across 13 districts. Under the Central Government&rsquo;s One Station, One Product scheme, special centers have been set up at Dehradun and Haridwar railway stations to sell products made by women self-help groups.

Yesterday, the Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education, Women, Children, Youth, and Sports Digvijaya Singh had written to the Lok Sabha Speaker requesting that the Bill be referred to the Committee for deeper examination and wider consultations.
"That is what such Committees are for. However, the Modi government -- as has happened so very frequently in the past -- ignored this perfectly legitimate request," Ramesh said.
"The Bill will result in the extreme centralisation of sports administration. And, of course, the BCCI will get the most favoured treatment, not subject to any laws of the land like the RTI," he said.
The long-awaited National Sports Governance Bill was passed in the Lok Sabha here on Monday with Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya describing it as the "single biggest reform in Indian sports since independence", amid opposition protests over revision of electoral rolls in Bihar.
The National Anti-Doping (Amendment) Bill was also passed in the Lok Sabha.
Amid the din, the bills were passed by a voice vote.

Madhya Pradesh has achieved its highest-ever export valuing at ₹66,218 crores in the financial year 2024&ndash;25, improving its national export ranking. The 6% growth in exports is mainly due to increased exports in pharmaceuticals, engineering goods, and soy-based products.
According to the latest report by the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO), merchandise exports contributed ₹66,218 crores, while IT companies operating in Special Economic Zones (SEZs) contributed ₹4,038 crores to the state&rsquo;s export portfolio. Due to economic growth in these sectors, Madhya Pradesh&rsquo;s national export ranking improved from 15th to 11th.
The report highlights that the state improved its global market position in exports due to growth in pharmaceuticals, engineering goods, and soy-based agricultural products. The Investment freindly industrial development policies, expanding industrial base, and improved export-oriented infrastructure have been listed as key drivers of growth. Additionally, the growing interest of international markets in Madhya Pradesh also played a significant role.
Last year, the top five export sectors from Madhya Pradesh were pharmaceuticals, animal feed, machinery, aluminum, and textiles. The major export markets include Bangladesh, France, UAE, and the Netherlands, while the United States remains the largest market for the state&rsquo;s pharmaceutical and machinery exports.
In 2024&ndash;25, Madhya Pradesh exported ₹11,968 crores of pharmaceuticals,₹6,062 crores of animal feed, ₹4,795 crores of aluminum, ₹4,656 crores of textiles, ₹5,497 crores of machinery.
Exports from the state have been consistently increasing over the past six years. It was ₹37,692 crores in 2019&ndash;20, ₹47,959 crores in 2020&ndash;21, ₹58,407 crores in 2021&ndash;22, ₹65,878 crores in 2022&ndash;23, ₹65,255 crores in 2023&ndash;24 and ₹66,218 crores in 2024&ndash;25. These include exports from SEZs.
Dhar district ranked first in exports with ₹17,830 crores, followed by Indore with ₹13,500 crores, focusing on pharmaceutical, automation, and food processing sectors. Ujjain also broke its previous record with exports of ₹2,288 crores, comprising industrial, agriculture-based, and processed food products.
This achievement has been made possible due to the state government's focus on industrial development and strengthening trade relations, which not only supports Madhya Pradesh&rsquo;s economic aspirations but also enhances its contribution to the nation&rsquo;s total exports.

Against the odds, the new 100' long Bailey bridge has been launched under challenging conditions -- swiftly restoring this vital link. A true testament to @BROindia relentless spirit and resolute action -- keeping the nation moving, come what may."&nbsp;
 By working on a war footing and building the bridge in a short period of three days, the road on the Gangotri route has now become smooth till Sonagad and this has also paved the way for rapid reconstruction of the damaged road ahead. After the disaster, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reached the spot immediately and gave instructions to conduct relief and rescue and reconstruction works on a war footing. The Chief Minister is constantly reviewing the progress of these works.&nbsp;
 Under the supervision and direction of the Chief Minister, rescue and relief operations are being conducted with better coordination and full speed by many departments and agencies of the state and central government. A massive mudslide struck Dharali village in the Kheer Gad area near Harsil, triggering a sudden flow of debris and water through the settlements on August 5.&nbsp;

A day after Lok Sabha's approval, the bill was cleared in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday after extensive discussion.
PTI presents an overview of its salient features that promise to overhaul several aspects of sports governance and the grievance redressal system for athletes and administrators alike in the country. The bill now awaits a presidential assent to become an act, which is not likely to take too long.
After this a gazette notification will be brought out by the government.
Age and tenure cap: ============= The bill fixes the tenure limit at three consecutive terms adding up to 12 years for the posts of President, Secretary General and Treasurer in sports bodies. The age cap has been kept at 70, extending up to 75 at the time of nomination if permitted by the international charter and statutes of the concerned sport.
The Executive Committee strength of a sports body has been capped at 15 to ensure that the financial burden on the federation is not high. The EC would be mandated to have at least two sportspersons of outstanding merit and four women in the ranks.
The provision is in line with the international push to ensure gender parity in sports governance and make athletes a prominent stakeholder in decision-making process.
National Sports Board: =============== The National Sports Board (NSB) will have overriding powers to grant or suspend recognition of all National Sports Federations (NSFs) and even "collaborate" with the international federations for athlete welfare.
The NSB will comprise a chairperson, and its members will be appointed by the central government from "amongst persons of ability, integrity and standing." The appointments would be done based on the recommendations of a search- cum-selection committee, which would have the Cabinet Secretary or Secretary Sports as chairperson.
The other members of this panel will be the Director General of the Sports Authority of India, two sports administrators who have each served as the President or Secretary General or Treasurer of a National Sports Body and one eminent sportsperson who is a Dronacharya, or Khel Ratna or Arjuna awardee.
The Board has been empowered to de-recognise a national body that fails to hold elections for its Executive Committee or has committed "gross irregularities in the election procedures." In addition, failure to publish annual audited accounts or "misused, misapplied or misappropriated public funds" would also invite suspension from the NSB but it would be required to consult the concerned global body before proceeding.
Only a recognised sports organisation will be eligible to receive grants or any other financial assistance from the central government.
National Sports Tribunal: ================ According to the Sports Ministry, over 350 cases are currently in progress in various courts of the country over issues ranging from selection to election, significantly hampering the progress of athletes and NSFs. The setting up of a National Sports Tribunal promises to end that for good as it would have "all the powers of a civil court." It will comprise a chairperson and two other members. The head of the Tribunal would be a sitting or retired judge of the Supreme Court or the Chief Justice of a High Court.
The appointments to this would also be in the hands of the central government based on recommendations of a committee that will be headed by Chief Justice of India or a Supreme Court judge recommended by the CJI and comprise the Sports Secretary and Secretary in the Ministry of Law and Justice.
The central government will have the power to remove its members in case of violations, including financial irregularities and actions prejudicial to "public interest".
The orders of this Tribunal would only be challengeable in the Supreme Court, which will ensure that no lower court would be involved in deciding disputes related to sports, making "jurisprudence stable and faster".
The appeal will also have to be filed within 30 days of the tribunal's decision but the Supreme Court will have the authority to decide if a filing can be done on the expiry of the deadline.
National Sports Election Panel: ==================== This too shall be appointed by the central government on the recommendation of the National Sports Board. The panel will be made up of retired members of the Election Commission of India or the State Election Commission or retired Chief Electoral Officers of the States or Deputy Election Commissioners, with "adequate experience".
The panel will act as "electoral officers" to oversee the conduct of free and fair elections to the Executive Committees and the Athletes Committee of the sports bodies.
The Board shall maintain a roster of the National Sports Election Panel, in such manner as may be prescribed.
RTI: ==== All recognised sports organisations, which are dependent on government funding and support, will be covered under the Right to Information Act, 2005 "with respect to the exercise of its functions, duties and powers." This ensures that the BCCI, which is not relying on ministry funding, will readily come under the bill's ambit. It will have to register itself as an NSF with the NSB as cricket is set to debut as an Olympic sport in the 2028 Games in the T20 format.
Govt's discretionary powers: ================== Any sports organisation wanting to use the word "India" or "Indian" or "National" or any national insignia or symbols will have to obtain a No Objection Certificate from the central government.
The central government, if it considers "necessary" and expedient in the public interest, will have also have the power to "relax" any of the provisions mentioned in the bill.
In addition, the government can also give such directions to the National Sports Board or any other person or entity for the "efficient administration" of the provisions of this bill.
The government will also be authorised to "impose reasonable restrictions on the participation of any national team of a concerned sport" under extraordinary circumstances and in the national interest.

The programme sought to strengthen civil-military cooperation while instilling the ideals of patriotism in the border community, it said.
The event, which started on Monday, featured a series of community-focused activities for students, youth, women, veterans, and entrepreneurs, it said.
Modern weapons and equipment were displayed as part of the program. Young participants were encouraged to consider careers in the armed forces, it added.
Information was provided on local economic opportunities in crops, spices, and bamboo-based industries.
The program concluded with the felicitation of veterans and community leaders for their contributions to regional development, the statement said.

Squarely blaming the Badals for ruining the state politically, economically and religiously, the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Monday dared the Akali leader Sukhbir Singh Badal to list one of the achievements of their long misrule in the state.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister, while taking a jibe at Akali leader Sukhbir Singh Badal, said that Badals had only worked for expanding their business without bothering about the state and its people. He said that the period from 2007-2017 was the darkest period of the state when Transport, cable, sand, drug and other mafias flexed their muscles in the state. Bhagwant Singh Mann dared the Akali leader to list one of the achievements of their government during this period adding that the drug menace spread its tentacles after it was patronized by the Akali regime.
The Chief Minister said that the state government is serving Punjab and its people with full missionary zeal and these leaders are now being made to pay for their sin. He said that now the leaders responsible for the heinous crimes against the state are being put behind bars, adding that one such example was the kingpin of drugs who is lodged in Nabha Jail. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that while the incumbent state government is fighting them, traditional parties were hand in glove with them and were offering them protection.
Targeting leaders of traditional parties who supported a former Akali minister currently in Nabha jail on drug charges, the Chief Minister said that it is shocking that Congress leaders Charanjit Singh Channi, Partap Singh Bajwa, Sukhpal Singh Khaira, BJP leader Captain Amarinder Singh, and Ravneet Singh Bittu are openly speaking in his favour. He said that this exposes the collusion between traditional political parties adding that when in power, they&rsquo;ve covered up each other&rsquo;s wrongdoings. Bhagwant Singh Mann once again challenged them to make it clear to the people of Punjab that whether they are with the drug traffickers or against them.
The Chief Minister said that these leaders didn&rsquo;t even spare the religion and plundered the money for their vested interests. He also quipped that Sukhbir is neither having knowledge of Punjab&rsquo;s culture, topography, religion nor even about the basic Punjabi language. However, Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the son of former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal is desperate to grab power in the state adding that he had already predicted that Akali Dal was formed in 1920 and will be eliminated in 2019.
The Chief Minister said that the rich legacy of the Akali Dal which was full of sacrifices has been now relegated to the party of drug smugglers. Likewise, he said that the Congress is a divided house with every leader desperate to occupy the chair of the Chief Minister in the state in coming times. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that these leaders have no vision for the state as they are only bothered about satiating their greed for power and vesting it by hook or crook.
The Chief Minister said that he might not be having experience of plundering the wealth of people but he has an expertise to share the sorrows of the general public and resolve their issues. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that he is dedicatedly working for the well being of the state and prosperity of its people. He said that some of the political leaders are not able to digest these things due to which they are repeatedly spitting baseless venom against him.&nbsp;
The Chief Minister said that such cheap tactics won&rsquo;t deter him from serving the people of state and he will continue this noble task for the overall development of the state. He said that his predecessors had never bothered about the state or its people adding that these haughty leaders always gave pretence to their family and vested interests rather than working for the state. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this attitude of these leaders proved detrimental both for Punjab and its people.
The Chief Minister said that the traditional parties are envious of him because he hails from a common family. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that these leaders who believed that they have divine right to rule the state due to which they are not able to digest that a common man is running the state efficiently. He said that these leaders have befooled the people since long time but now people are not getting swayed by their misleading propaganda.
Earlier, the Chief Minister dedicated freedom fighter Jathedar Kartar Singh Darvesh Senior Secondary School, Sangrur which has been upgraded as a School of Eminence at a cost of Rs. 3.40 crore. He said that the students and teachers of this school have been provided with all the necessary equipment and facilities and various works have been carried out for the overall transformation of the school, including the construction and renovation of an auditorium hall, entrance gate, stage, park, shed, mid-day meal kitchen, workshops, laboratories, drinking water facilities, and classrooms. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this school is renowned across the world and the students who have studied here have made their mark in various fields at the global level.&nbsp;
The Chief Minister also dedicated the Government Nursing Training School, Sangrur to the people, which has been constructed at a cost of Rs. 7.81 crore. He said that this ultra-modern building offers a three-year GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery) course and the institute is equipped with a hostel, modern laboratories, a mess with high-quality food, smart classrooms, a modern library, school bus service, and various other facilities. Bhagwant Singh Mann envisioned that this institution will prove to be a blessing for students from rural areas, as earlier, they had to travel to Bathinda, Patiala, or other distant places to pursue nursing education.
The Chief Minister also flagged off 12 mobile cancer screening buses from World Cancer Care which will go door-to-door, conducting camps in various villages and towns to screen people and raise awareness about cancer. He lauded the Chairman of organization, Dr. Kulwant Singh Dhaliwal for organizing 350 free cancer screening and awareness camps across Punjab to commemorate the 350th martyrdom day of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that during these camps, World Cancer Care will offer free tests including Mammography for breast cancer screening in women, Pap smear for cervical cancer, PSA test for prostate cancer in men, Oral screening for mouth and throat cancer, Bone density tests, Blood tests, and other necessary diagnostics.
The Chief Minister said that it is a historic day as a crusade against cancer has been launched in a new way by offering door to door cancer diagnostic and treatment facilities to the common man. He said that this menace had posed serious danger to the residents of the state especially those from the Malwa region adding that even a train from Bathinda to Bikaner was known as Cancer express. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the state government is committed for the well being of every section of the society.

In order to ensure peaceful celebrations of forthcoming Independence Day-2025 as mandated by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav on Monday briefed the police force regarding the current security scenario and reviewed counter-terror strategies, besides, issuing operational directives on inter-district coordination, high-visibility nakas, and round-the-clock surveillance to prevent any law and order breach in the border state.
The DGP Punjab was on a whirlwind tour to chair Law and Order Review Meetings and outreach sessions with the officers of Commissionerates&mdash; Amritsar, Jalandhar and Ludhiana, and Police Ranges&mdash; Border, Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Ropar. He also reviewed the ongoing anti-drugs campaign &lsquo;Yudh Nashian Virudh&rsquo; and action against gangsters and organised crime.
Reaffirming the zero-tolerance stance against the drug menace, DGP Gaurav Yadav has directed district police chiefs to ensure strict, transparent, and uncompromising enforcement of the NDPS Act. While appreciating the progress of Yudh Nashian Virudh campaign, he directed the district officers to further intensify the anti-drug campaign to wipe out the drugs from the state.&nbsp;
He also asked officers to conduct financial investigations vis section 68-F of the NDPS Act, and against Hawala operators to dismantle the entire ecosystem of drug trafficking.
While taking stock of security arrangements ahead of forthcoming Independence Day, DGP Gaurav Yadav has also given instructions to all the CPs/SSPs to maintain peace and harmony by ensuring police presence at all important places, intensify domination operations and other preventive and detective measures.
The DGP said that as part of the heightened security, police personnel will conduct regular patrols and checks, particularly at night, to prevent any potential threats or disruptions. He &nbsp; &nbsp;also directed CPs/SSPs to increase the Police checkpoints in their respective jurisdictions, besides ensuring visible domination in high footfall areas, snatching hotspots and other sensitive points.
Meanwhile, as part of the outreach, the DGP Punjab also engaged directly with officers across all ranks including station house officers (SHOs), encouraging an open discussion and exchange of valuable field insights to strengthen inter-district coordination and dismantle drug supply chains.
