Newly appointed BJP president Nitin Nabin has been given top-tier armed VIP security by the Central government, officials said on Tuesday.
The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) will provide a Z-category security detail for Nabin. A few weeks ago, the Union Home Ministry instructed the CRPF to take charge of his security following his announcement as the new BJP party leader, officials said.
Armed CRPF commandos will accompany him during his travels across the country, they added. Nabin was formally declared the BJP president on Tuesday.
The 45-year-old five-time Bihar MLA was elected unopposed on Monday as the BJP national president, the youngest ever to occupy the top post at a time when the saffron party seeks to further expand its footprint with key state elections around the corner.
His predecessor, J P Nadda, also received a similar security cover from the government, with the CRPF VIP security wing managing the arrangements.
The VIP security cover, under the Central protection list, ranges from the highest Z-plus (ASL) to Z-plus, Z, Y, Y-plus, and X categories.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the Gandhi family and several other politicians and high-ranking individuals are protected by the CRPF, which has approximately 200 VIPs under its umbrella.

Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi on Tuesday walked out of the state Assembly without delivering his customary address to the House in its maiden session of the year, alleging among others, "inaccuracies" in the DMK government prepared text.
After the Governor left the House, Chief Minister M K Stalin slammed the Governor for, "walking out yet again in violation of rules, traditions and ethos," and it was unbecoming of the high office Ravi holds. It was an insult to the House and its dignity, he said.
The CM asserted that his party would make efforts to delete from the Constitution, by way of an amendment, the provisions mandating governor's address at the start of the year.
The chief minister moved a resolution which said the House does not accept the Governor's behaviour of not reading out the customary address. Also, it said that only the government prepared text read out by Speaker M Appavu in Tamil would go on record.
After the House adopted the resolution, Stalin thanked the MLAs for it and said it is not good that the Governor refuses every year to read out the government prepared speech.
Governors posing trouble happens in several states and it does not happen only in Tamil Nadu.
At the beginning of the year, Governor reading out the government's policy statement is a practice being followed. When a governor repeatedly violates such a practice, a question naturally arises "as to why such a rule/practice should exist."
Hence, the chief minister said his party, the DMK would make efforts in the Parliament with the support of the like-minded parties to drop provisions mandating governor's address at the start of the year from the Constitution by way of an amendment.
The CM said that according to Article 176 of the Constitution the customary address is prepared by the state government and it should be fully read out by the governor.
"There is no scope for the Governor to express his personal opinion on the address or omit content from the state government prepared address," he told the House.
It was regrettable that the Governor has repeated his behaviour of walking out of the House, which reflected the sentiments of the 8.5 crore Tamil people.
He said: "A Governor must be concerned about the state's welfare, interested in the people's development, and must speak the truth. He must cooperate with the government which has come to power with massive public support and a majority, on its decisions."
Further, he said: "The Constitution expects the same from the person who holds that office. However, he acts against it and spreads slander by speaking politics in public and tries to scuttle the state administration. He is making a similar attempt here (in the Assembly) is unacceptable."
When Ravi left the House, MLAs belonging to the ruling party and its allies up, stood up and raised their voice and nothing could be comprehended due to the din.
The CM said that on April 10, 2023, he had recalled DMK founder CN Annadurai's statement that "Neither does a goat require a beard, nor does a state require a governor," and late DMK patriarch endorsing it. However, governors have always been shown due respect.

State Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte informed the state legislative assembly that the 'ghat aarti' at Naroa village in North Goa could emerge as a major attraction for pilgrims and tourists.
Situated on the banks of the River Mandovi, Naroa village is home to the Shree Saptakoteshwar Temple, rebuilt by Maratha king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
In a written reply during the recently held winter session of the state assembly, Khaunte stated that a work order amounting to Rs 10.85 crore has been issued for the project, and construction commenced on October 1, 2025, with completion scheduled for May 29.
He said that the project has been awarded to M/s IB Construction, with a completion period of 240 days, excluding the monsoon season.
The proposed 'ghat aarti' facility is expected to strengthen religious tourism in the state and add a new spiritual landmark along Goa's riverfronts, he said.&nbsp;

The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) has ordered an immediate overhaul of road safety measures across its jurisdiction in the wake of the death of a software engineer in neighbouring Noida after his car plunged into a water-filled pit.
GNIDA Chief Executive Officer N G Ravi Kumar directed officials to identify and promptly fill all potholes on or near roads and to mark accident-prone "black spots" without delay, according to an official statement issued Monday evening.
He also instructed that essential safety measures, including directional signage, reflectors and barricading, be implemented on all roads within three days.
The directions come in the wake of the January 16 incident in Noida's Sector 150, where a 27-year-old software engineer died after his vehicle fell into an unbarricaded, water-filled excavation near an under-construction site, triggering allegations of negligence and a statewide road safety drive ordered by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Following the CEO's instructions, GNIDA held an online review meeting with Additional CEOs Srilakshmi VS and Sumit Yadav, General Manager A K Singh and officials from all work circles, the statement said.
"All assistant managers, managers and senior managers have been directed to survey their respective areas, identify potholes, sharp turns and black spots, and ensure immediate corrective measures," it said, adding that officials have been given three days to complete the task.
Teams from the authority's project department have begun field surveys to identify accident-prone locations. Measures underway include the installation of road markers, cat's eyes, reflective paint on central verge walls, barricades along open drains and speed breakers on link roads connecting to main arteries.
Additional CEO Sumit Yadav inspected the 130-metre road and areas in Sectors 2 and 3, and warned strict action against work circles found negligent, the statement said.
The authority has also directed its electrical engineering department to ensure proper street lighting on all roads, with testing of lights to be completed at the earliest. Builders have been instructed to strictly comply with safety norms at construction sites.
Additional CEO Srilakshmi VS informed that all work circles would be required to submit affidavits certifying that safety measures had been implemented at accident-prone locations in their respective areas.
She added that the project department was taking all necessary steps to prevent road accidents and appealed to motorists to follow traffic rules.

The Enforcement Directorate on Tuesday conducted searches in three states as part of its money laundering investigation into the Sabarimala alleged gold loss case of Kerala, officials said.
About 21 locations across Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu are being raided under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), they said.
The premises linked to the main accused, Unnikrishnan Potti, in Bengaluru and former Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) president A Padmakumar in Kerala apart from jewellers were covered by the federal probe agency as part of the action.
The ED filed a PMLA case on January 9 taking cognisance of a clutch of Kerala police FIRs. The politically sensitive case is already being investigated by a state Special Investigation Team (SIT) under the supervision of the Kerala High Court.
The probe is related to a series of irregularities, including official misconduct, administrative lapses and a criminal conspiracy to misappropriate the gold from the various artefacts of the Lord Ayyappa shrine.
The charges also include the loss of gold from the gold-cladded copper plates of the 'Dwarapalaka' (guardian deity) idols and the door frames of the 'Sreekovil' (sanctum sanctorum) of the temple.
ED officials said preliminary investigation shows that gold-clad sacred artefacts were deliberately misrepresented as "copper plates" in official records and unlawfully removed from the temple premises between 2019 and 2025.
The gold was allegedly extracted through chemical processes at private facilities in Chennai and Karnataka, generating proceeds of crime which were retained, transferred and concealed, as per the officials.
They said the searches are aimed to trace the alleged illicit funds, identify beneficiaries, seize incriminating documents and digital evidence and "ascertain the full extent" of money laundering involved.
The investigation also indicates alleged financial irregularities and scams at Sabarimala, including misappropriation related to temple offerings and rituals, as per the ED officials.

Addressing the gathering, Kejriwal highlighted issues affecting farmers, youth, and public services in the state. He claimed that farmers faced difficulties in accessing fertilizers, seeds, irrigation, and fair prices for crops. He said government schools and hospitals were inadequately maintained, forcing residents to rely on private institutions.&nbsp;
&ldquo;Private schools are indulging in hooliganism, they are carrying out loot. Why do they loot the poor? They have eaten up your family&rsquo;s government hospitals. If you go to a government hospital, there are no medicines, no tests, no doctors,&rdquo; Kejriwal said, according to the party statement.
He also referenced the Harni boat tragedy in Vadodara, in which 12 children and two teachers drowned due to lack of safety jackets. Kejriwal stated that two years after the incident, families of the victims were still seeking justice and faced challenges when approaching authorities.
Kejriwal further alleged misallocation of tribal welfare funds, saying that large sums were spent on political events rather than public services. &ldquo;From the tribal welfare fund, 50 crore rupees were spent for the Prime Minister&rsquo;s rally. Samosas worth 2 crores, tents worth 5 crores, buses worth 7 crores&mdash;all from the money of tribals. With 50 crores, so many schools and hospitals could have been built,&rdquo; he said.
The AAP leaders outlined plans to strengthen the party organization through door-to-door campaigns and booth-level teams in preparation for upcoming elections. Kejriwal said the party intends to focus on farmers&rsquo; prosperity, youth employment, and improved public services.
Gopal Rai highlighted the party&rsquo;s ongoing organizational efforts, saying that campaigns had been launched at district and village levels, and that a structured framework had been established at taluka and district levels. He urged members to continue door-to-door campaigns to further strengthen the organization.
State president Isudan Gadhvi addressed the gathering on political and administrative issues, including alleged misuse of police and administrative powers. He claimed that some AAP workers had faced legal challenges in false cases and encouraged members to remain committed to the party&rsquo;s work. Gadhvi also criticized the state administration, claiming that public resources had been mismanaged and basic services, including agriculture and roads, had suffered under the long-standing BJP government.
Chaitar Vasava, MLA from Dediapada, said the party would continue advocating for workers&rsquo; rights, including proper wages, bonuses, and benefits. Visavadar MLA Gopal Italia added that the party&rsquo;s outreach had helped raise awareness among citizens, and that leaders and office-bearers had faced challenges while mobilizing public participation.
Leaders also referred to the political scenario in Gujarat, noting that the BJP has been in power for the last 30 years, and claimed that organizational and grassroots expansion by AAP aims to provide citizens with greater engagement ahead of taluka panchayat, district panchayat, municipality, and municipal corporation elections.
The convention concluded with a call to consolidate the party&rsquo;s structure at booth, taluka, and district levels, and to continue public outreach across Vadodara and surrounding districts.

Delhi Air Quality Improves Slightly but Remains Very Poor

Delhi&rsquo;s three-day streak of &lsquo;severe&rsquo; air pollution ended Tuesday as the city&rsquo;s AQI improved marginally to 395, settling in the &lsquo;very poor&rsquo; category. Wazirpur, Anand Vihar, and Jahangirpuri recorded the highest pollution levels.

Delhi's three-day run of 'severe' air pollution ended on Tuesday morning, with the city's average Air Quality Index (AQI) showing a marginal improvement and settling in the 'very poor' category at 395.
Despite the improvement, pollution levels remained worrying across monitoring stations.
Out of the total stations reporting, 23 were still in the 'severe' category, 14 in 'very poor', and 1 in 'poor', according to data from the CPCB Sameer app.
Wazirpur recorded the worst air quality with an AQI of 445, followed closely by Anand Vihar at 444 and Jahangirpuri at 443.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) classification, an AQI between 0 and 50 is considered 'good'; 51 to 100 is 'satisfactory'; 101 to 200 is 'moderate'; 201 to 300 is 'poor'; 301 to 400 is 'very poor'; and 401 to 500 is 'severe'.
The city had experienced three consecutive days of 'severe' air pollution. On Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, the AQI exceeded the 400 mark, prompting the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) to implement Stage 4 restrictions.
Meanwhile, the Air Quality Warning System has forecast that Delhi's air quality is likely to remain in the 'very poor' category on Tuesday and continue at similar levels over the next two days.
Weather conditions provided little relief, with the minimum temperature in Delhi recorded at 7.2 degrees Celsius.
Station-specific data indicated minimum temperatures of 8.8 degrees Celsius at Palam, 9.0 degrees Celsius at Ridge, 8.0 degrees Celsius at Ayanagar, and 7.6 degrees Celsius at Lodhi Road, while Safdarjung noted the city's lowest minimum at 7.2 degrees Celsius.
The maximum temperature is expected to reach 24 degrees Celsius, accompanied by moderate fog.

The Karnataka government has placed DGP (Civil Rights Enforcement) K Ramachandra Rao under suspension with immediate effect, pending inquiry, citing conduct unbecoming of a government servant and causing embarrassment to the state administration.
News channels beamed video on Monday purportedly showing Karnataka DGP (Civil Rights Enforcement) K Ramachandra Rao in an alleged compromising position with women.
The video went viral on social media as well. Rao sought to reject the videos outright, terming them "fabricated and false".
In an official order issued by the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR) on Monday, the government said videos and news reports widely circulated on television channels and digital media platforms showed the senior IPS officer acting in an "obscene manner", prompting the decision to initiate disciplinary action.
"Vide videos and news reports widely broadcast on public news channels and media platforms, it is observed that Dr K Ramachandra Rao has acted in an obscene manner which is unbecoming of a Government Servant and also causing embarrassment to the Government," the government order said.
The order further said the matter was examined by the state government, which found that the officer's conduct amounted to violation of Rule-3 of the All India Services (Conduct) Rules, 1968.
The government said it is prima facie satisfied that "it is necessary to place Rao under suspension with immediate effect, pending inquiry".
During the suspension period, Rao will be entitled to subsistence allowance as per Rule-4 of the All India Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969.
The order also places restrictions on his movement, stating that during the period of suspension, the officer should not leave headquarters under any circumstances without the written permission of the State Government.
Rao is the stepfather of Kannada actress Harshavardhini Ranya alias Ranya Rao, who is accused of orchestrating the illegal import of gold worth over Rs 12.56 crore from Dubai to India along with two others -- businessman Tarun Raju, and jewellery dealer Sahil Jain.
Ranya was apprehended at Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport on March 3, 2025 with 14.8 kilograms of gold allegedly smuggled from Dubai.
Subsequent investigations revealed that Ranya had made 45 solo trips to Dubai between 2023 and 2025, raising suspicions on her involvement in a broader smuggling network.
Ranya is presently in judicial custody at the Bengaluru Central Jail.

The child slipped into the 60-foot-deep borewell around 11 am on 14 March and got stuck at a depth of 43 feet.

The child will be rescued within a few hours, MP home minister Narottam Mishra said on the morning of 15 March.

The committee, led by the Additional Chief Secretary of the General Administration Department, Sanjay Kumar Shukla, will examine the actual causes and key facts of the water contamination in Indore&rsquo;s Bhagirathpura area and analyse administrative, technical, and management deficiencies.
It will determine accountability of the officers/employees responsible for the incident, make necessary recommendations to prevent such recurrence in the future, and include other matters deemed necessary or incidental to the matter under investigation, the official said.
The committee will obtain necessary records, reports, and information from the departments concerned and, if necessary, conduct on-site inspections.
It will submit the investigation report to the state government within one month, the official said.
Besides Shukla, the other members of the committee include Principal Secretary, Public Health Engineering, P Narhari, and Commissioner, Directorate of Urban Administration and Development, Sanket Bhodave.
Indore Divisional Commissioner Sudam Khade has been designated as member-secretary, the official said.
The state government, in its status report before the Madhya Pradesh High Court, has pegged the water contamination tragedy death toll at seven, including a five-month-old infant.
However, an audit report prepared by a committee of the government-run Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College indicated that the deaths of 15 persons in Bhagirathpura could be linked to the outbreak in some manner.
Residents of Bhagirathpura claimed that 24 persons have died so far of a vomiting and diarrhoea outbreak in the locality last month.
The administration has paid compensation of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of 21 persons who died after the outbreak.
Officials have claimed that while some deaths had occurred due to other illnesses and causes, authorities provided financial assistance to all bereaved families on humanitarian grounds.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday expressed displeasure over former Union minister Maneka Gandhi's remarks criticising apex court orders in the stray dog issue, stating that she has committed contempt of court.
A bench of Justices Vikram Nath, Sandeep Mehta and N V Anjaria said the former minister has made "all kinds of comments" against everyone without even thinking.
Questioning senior advocate Raju Ramachandran who appeared for Gandhi, the bench said, "You said the court should be circumspect in its remark but have you asked your client what kind of remarks she has made? Have you heard her podcast? She has made all kinds of remarks against everybody without even thinking. Have you seen her body language?"&nbsp;
The bench said it was not initiating contempt proceedings against the former Union minister because of the court's magnanimity.
Justice Mehta asked Ramachandran what budgetary allocation has Maneka Gandhi, as a former Union minister, helped in getting to eradicate the stray dog problem.
Ramachandran replied that he has appeared even on behalf of terrorist Ajmal Kasab and budgetary allocation is a policy matter.
"Ajmal Kasab did not commit contempt of court but your client has," Justice Nath remarked.
The bench said its remark on making dog feeders accountable was not made sarcastically but on a serious note, although during a dialogue while hearing the matter.
The hearing in the case is still underway.
On January 13, the top court had said it will ask states to pay a "heavy compensation" for dog bite incidents and hold dog feeders accountable for such cases.
The court also flagged concerns over the non-implementation of norms on stray animals for the last five years.&nbsp;

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday congratulated Nitin Nabin on his election as the BJP national president and declared that the young leader will be his boss in matters related to the party.
Addressing a gathering at the party headquarters here, Modi described 45-year-old Nabin as a "millennial" with youthful energy and vast experience in the organisation, which will prove to be of immense help for the party.
In his 40-minute speech, the prime minister repeatedly referred to Nabin as 'mananiya' (honourable) and listed out the achievements of his government over the last 11 years, which he described as giving an account of his work to the party president.
"Every word of his will give us a new direction. His guidance will be a priceless asset that will chart our future course of action," the prime minister said, addressing the gathering attended by senior leaders like Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, Amit Shah, J P Nadda, along with Union ministers, chief ministers of BJP-ruled states, and scores of party workers.
"I, too, as a party worker, was giving an account of my work to the new president. I have given an account of my work. He will now write my CR. I am awaiting his guidance," Modi said, referring to the work of the BJP-led NDA government.
Nabin was declared the BJP national president at the party headquarters at the conclusion of the Sanghatan Parv, which saw elections to various party posts from the booth level to the national level.
"When it comes to party matters, mananiya (honourable) Nitin Nabin ji... I am a worker, and you are my boss," Modi said.

"Now, honourable Nitin Nabin ji is the president of all of us, and his responsibility is not just to manage the BJP, but also to ensure coordination among all NDA allies," the prime minister said.
Modi said the new BJP chief belongs to an era in which people heard the news on the radio in childhood and are now well-versed in using Artificial Intelligence.
"Nitin ji has both youthful energy and a great deal of experience," he said.
The prime minister said infiltrators pose a very serious threat to country's security and stressed that identifying them and sending them back is extremely necessary.
Targeting the Congress, the prime minister urged BJP workers to learn from the mistakes committed by the grand old party and not to repeat them.
He said in 1984, the Congress had won more than 400 seats in the Lok Sabha elections with more than 50 per cent of the votes.
"But today, the Congress is yearning to cross the 100-seat mark," the prime minister said.
He asked BJP workers to identify the bad qualities of the Congress that have brought them to the brink of self-destruction.
"We have to save ourselves from these bad qualities. We have to ensure that we do not embrace these bad qualities. Wherever we have maintained distance from such qualities, we have emerged invincible," Modi said.
The prime minister said the Congress never reviewed its catastrophic decline, fearing it would raise questions about the very family that has captured the party.
"That is why they keep finding excuses. They have even lost the courage to find the real reason for the decline," Modi said.
Modi said the BJP conducts a dispassionate review of its performance even after winning elections and tries to improve in regions where it faces a loss.
He cited the recent victory of the BJP in the civic bodies polls in Maharashtra and asserted that the party was not resting on its laurels, but has started work on the next round of elections.
"The BJP is a tradition. The BJP is a family. We value relationships more than membership. The BJP is such a tradition that functions not by a post but by process. Here, holding a post is an arrangement, and carrying out the work is a lifelong responsibility," Modi said.
"In the BJP, presidents change, but ideals do not change. Leadership changes, but the direction does not change," he said.
The prime minister said under the leadership of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Lal Krishna Advani and Murali Manohar Joshi, the BJP saw a journey from zero to the summit.
"In this century, leaders like M Venkaiah Naidu and Nitin Gadkari, along with many of our senior colleagues, expanded the organisation. Under the leadership of Rajnath ji, for the first time, the BJP achieved a full majority on its own," Modi said.
"Then, under the leadership of Amit Shah, the BJP formed governments in many states and came to power at the Centre for a second consecutive term. Under the leadership of J P Nadda, the BJP grew stronger from the panchayat to Parliament," Modi said.
The prime minister said the BJP began its political journey as "a party with a difference" and over the years has emerged as a party of good governance.
"The country has seen various models of governance after independence, the Congress' model of dynastic politics, the Left's model, the model of regional parties, and the era of unstable governments.
"But today, the country is witnessing the BJP's development model, one marked by stability, good governance, and sensitivity," the prime minister said.

Delhi Traffic Police will deploy AI videos, shuttle services, car-calling systems, and expanded help desks to ensure seamless traffic flow and parking during Republic Day and Beating Retreat events.

From AI-generated informational videos to car-calling systems, Delhi Traffic Police has rolled out a slew of technology-driven measures to ensure smooth traffic flow and a hassle-free commute for people heading to Kartavya Path for the Republic Day parade and the Beating Retreat ceremony.
In a first, the traffic police has prepared detailed animated videos with the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI), depicting the arrival, alighting, departure and parking plans for invitees. Officials said the videos are aimed at familiarising visitors with the movement and parking arrangements well in advance.
The videos are available on the Ministry of Defence website and can also be accessed through the QR code-based parking system issued to invitees. They explain in detail how arrival, alighting and parking will be managed on the day of the event, a senior police officer told PTI.
The parking management system covers 22 designated parking lots and has been designed to accommodate around 8,000 vehicles. Every year, nearly 77,000 passes are issued to spectators for the Republic Day parade, of which about 8,000 are earmarked for those arriving by private vehicles, the police said.
Another first this year is the introduction of shuttle services for security personnel deployed for Republic Day arrangements. Shuttles will operate from four locations&mdash;Khan Market, Amrita Sher-Gil Marg, Patel Chowk Metro Station and HC Mathur Lane&mdash;to ferry personnel to their respective destinations. The shuttles will run at a frequency of 10 minutes, he said.
To assist commuters in reaching their designated parking areas on Republic Day, invited guests and ticket holders can use Google Maps or Mappls for real-time navigation support. A senior police officer said the platforms will provide details of appropriate routes to Kartavya Path and the exact location of allotted parking spots. On Mappls, a dedicated Republic Day tab has been created, while Google Maps will display specially marked parking locations along with entry and exit routes to help visitors reach their destinations without confusion, he said.
Apart from digital assistance, the traffic police has significantly expanded on-ground support by setting up 12 help desks at key locations&mdash;up from just two in previous years. Personnel deployed at these help desks will guide commuters on parking facilities, pedestrian movement routes and security arrangements, the officer said. The help desks will be located at Moti Lal Nehru Place roundabout, Sunehri Masjid roundabout, Man Singh roundabout, Jaswant Singh roundabout, GPO roundabout, Windsor Place roundabout, Mandi House roundabout, Q-point, Teen Murti roundabout, Crossing Janpath/Dr Rajendra Prasad Road, Gate number 14 of Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium and Palika Parking, they added.
Car-calling systems have also been introduced this year to avoid crowding after the conclusion of the programme and to ensure smooth dispersal of invitees. Under the system, invitees can inform an officer stationed at the exit gate, following which announcements mentioning the car number or the driver&rsquo;s name will be made. The information will be relayed through loudspeakers installed at parking areas, enabling drivers to reach the exit gate in a timely manner.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Rajiv Kumar said technology is being leveraged on a large scale this year to ensure smooth movement of vehicles and pedestrians and to make the experience seamless for those attending the national celebrations.
To ensure effective coordination among various agencies, a control room will remain operational on January 26. Officers from the police, traffic police, fire services and other emergency agencies will be deployed at the facility to monitor the situation and respond promptly to any exigency, the police said.
The traffic police has advised people to follow official advisories, use public transport as far as possible and rely on digital navigation tools for a smoother commute to Kartavya Path.

Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin announces plans to push for a Constitutional amendment to remove the mandatory Governor's Address after Governor RN Ravi walked out of the Assembly over "inaccuracies" in the DMK-prepared speech.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President MK Stalin on Tuesday said his party would make efforts to amend the Constitution to omit provisions mandating Governor's Address to the state legislature at the beginning of the year.
His comments came in response to TN Governor R N Ravi earlier declining to read the state government prepared text in the Assembly, with the Lok Bhavan claiming "inaccuracies" in it. The Governor walked out of the House without delivering the customary address.
In the state Assembly, Stalin said it was not good that the Governor refuses every year to read out the government prepared speech. Governors posing trouble happens in several states and it does not happen only in Tamil Nadu, he said in an apparent reference to non-BJP ruled states. This was the fourth such walkout in a row by Ravi ever since he assumed office in 2021.
At the beginning of the year, Governor reading out the government's policy statement is a practice being followed. When a governor repeatedly violates such a practice, a question naturally arises "as to why such a rule/practice should exist," Stalin said.
Hence, the chief minister said, the DMK would make efforts in the Parliament with the support of like-minded parties to drop from the Constitution, by way of an amendment, provisions mandating the governor's address at the start of the year.
Later in a social media post, the DMK chief said: "Let us demand a Constitutional amendment that Governor's Address is unnecessary." He added that it is for the sake of all the states ruled by the opposition parties in the country.
The four-year achievements of the Dravidian model government cannot be hidden from the people who have benefited from them just because the Governor leaves the House without reading the government-prepared address, he said.
On Monday, an English daily, in its editorial referred to the Tamil Nadu Governor as "recalcitrant" for "disrespecting the Constitution and the democratically elected government," and Ravi's actions today have proven that, the chief minister alleged.
