The court said all witnesses have said the complainant herself gave the officer Rs 80,000 on January 2, 2019, after the amount was decided during a conversation on December 31, 2018.
The court said that the quote 'with great power comes great responsibility' from the movie Spiderman has became an "arduous code of conduct" for public servants, especially police.
The court said power cannot be enjoyed simply for its privileges alone, it makes the holder morally responsible for what they do or don't do with it.&nbsp;

While indicating that he might not allow the petition if both the girl and foetus were healthy, Justice Samir Dave of the high court also referred to the Manusmriti during the hearing on Wednesday.
The rape survivor is 16 years and 11 months old and carrying a seven-month-old foetus. Her father moved the HC seeking permission for abortion as the pregnancy had crossed the 24-week threshold up to which abortion can be performed without a court's leave.
On Wednesday, his lawyer sought an early hearing, saying the family was concerned because of the girl's age.
Justice Dave said there was anxiety because "we are living in the 21st century".
"Ask your mother or great-grandmother. Fourteen-fifteen was the maximum age (for marriage), and girls used to give birth to their first child before turning 17. And girls get mature before boys....Though you may not read, but you should read Manusmriti once," he added.
As the expected date of delivery is August 16, he consulted expert doctors in his chamber, the judge informed the lawyer.
"The court can consider (allowing abortion) if any serious ailments are found in the foetus or the girl. But if both are normal, it will be very difficult for the court to pass such an order," the judge said.
In the end, the court directed the Medical Superintendent of Rajkot Civil Hospital to get the girl examined by a panel of doctors to find out if the medical termination of pregnancy was advisable.
The doctors should also carry out ossification test on the girl and a psychiatrist should ascertain her mental condition, Justice Dave said, asking the hospital to submit reports by June 15, the next date of hearing.
During the hearing, the judge also advised the girl's lawyer to start looking for options in case the medical opinion went against the termination of the pregnancy.
"I will not give permission if both are found healthy. The weight of the foetus is also good...What will you do if the girl gives birth and the child lives? Who will take care of that child? I will also inquire if there are government schemes for such children. You should also check if someone can adopt that child," said the judge

A delegation of NCP workers led by Pawar&rsquo;s daughter and Lok Sabha member Supriya Sule met Mumbai police chief Vivek Phansalkar demanding action.

Such was the reluctance of the young students and their parents to come back to a building associated with tragic mass death that the school management committee had pleaded with the state government to demolish the 65-year-old building.&nbsp;
&ldquo;Younger students are scared,&rdquo; admitted Bahanaga High School Headmistress Pramila Swain, adding that the school had planned to &ldquo;conduct spiritual programmes and follow some rituals to help them overcome their fears.&rdquo; She said some senior students and NCC cadets from the school had even joined the rescue work.
Though the bodies have been shifted to Bhubaneswar and the school campus has been sanitised and cleaned, the students and the guardians are scared and in a state of panic.
&ldquo;It is difficult to forget that so many bodies were kept in our school building,&rdquo; said a student.
The SMC had initially allowed only three classrooms for the purpose. Later the district administration used the open hall of the school for keeping the bodies for identification.

A man has been arrested for allegedly refusing to pay a bill of 3.65 lakh rupees for staying with his family at a five-star hotel in Delhi, police said on Thursday.

A man has been arrested for allegedly refusing to pay a bill of Rs 3.65 lakh for staying with his family at a five-star hotel in Lutyens' Delhi, police said on Thursday.
According to the FIR, the assistant manager of the hotel said the guest and his family booked two single-occupancy rooms assuring the staff that the payment will be made on May 31.
They checked into the hotel on May 28 but the guest did not make the payment on the promised date, police said citing the First Information Report (FIR).
The guest allegedly breached the hotel's credit policy by showing fraudulent UTR (Unique Transaction Reference) numbers claiming that he had already paid Rs 6,50,000 through a bank transfer.
But upon checking, no such transaction was found to be made by him and when he was asked about it, he assured that the payment will be made on June 3. During this period, he enjoyed all the services -- including meals and bar -- and again on the assured date, he failed to make the payment, the FIR stated.
When confronted, he threatened the hotel staff that he would call the police and frame false allegations against them. He refused to pay and allegedly abused the hotel staff and damaged the hotel property, it said.
The man did not clear the bill of Rs 3,65,965, it added.
Based on the complaint, a case under section 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of the Indian Penal Code was registered against the guest and his family on Tuesday for staying and availing the hotel services without paying the complete bill amount, police said, adding the matter is being probed.

Admission letters of several Indian students to Canadian universities were found fake

A Canadian parliamentary committee has voted unanimously to urge the border services agency to stop the deportation of nearly 700 Indian students who were duped by unscrupulous education consultants in India to enter the country with "fraudulent college admission letters."
The Indian students, mostly from Punjab, face deportation from Canada after the authorities here found their &ldquo;admission offer letters&rdquo; to educational institutions fake. The matter came to light in March when these students applied for permanent residency in Canada.
In a symbolic move, the all-party immigration committee voted unanimously on Wednesday to call on the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) to waive the inadmissibility of the affected students, The Toronto Star newspaper reported.
The committee also asked the CBSA to provide the students, as many as 700 from India, with an alternative pathway to permanent residence on humanitarian grounds or through a &ldquo;regularisation&rdquo; programme, the report said.
Calling the students victims of fraud, Jenny Kwan, a lawmaker who tabled the motion said, "So as a first step, this is absolutely essential and necessary. The students are victims of fraud and should not be penalised.&rdquo; &ldquo;These students, I&rsquo;ve met with many of them, now are just in such a terrible state. They&rsquo;ve lost money, and they are stuck in a terrible situation. And some of them have deportation orders. Others have pending meetings with CBSA,&rdquo; the newspaper quoted Kwan as saying.
&ldquo;We need to have empathy for those students, and we should not exploit the situation and play politics on this issue of those innocent students,&rdquo; Liberal MP Shafqat Ali said.
The MP for Brampton Centre, where many affected students now reside, added that the students have "gone through and are going through a lot".
