Kolkata Schools Receive Hoax Bomb Threats, Evacuated Safely

Kolkata, Jun 25 (PTI) - Two leading schools in Kolkata were disrupted on Wednesday after receiving bomb threats via email, leading to an immediate suspension of classes and sending students home, according to officials. However, police later determined that the threats were baseless after a comprehensive search of the school premises.

The Calcutta International School located in the southern part of the city's Anandapur area and the Calcutta Boys School in Taltala were the institutions that received the threatening emails, which claimed that bombs would detonate in the afternoon during ongoing classes, officials reported. Both schools took swift action by contacting the Kolkata Police Headquarters at Lalbazar.

"A team from Anandapur Police Station was dispatched to the Calcutta International School, while another team from Taltala was sent to the Calcutta Boys School. Sniffer dogs and bomb squad personnel carried out an extensive search of both school premises and surrounding areas, but nothing suspicious was found. Ultimately, it was declared a hoax," stated a senior officer of Kolkata Police.

The police have launched an investigation into the incident. They are presently scrutinizing the IP addresses of the emails to gather further information.
