BJP Criticizes Congress for Neglecting Karnataka Farmers

In Kalyana Karnataka, devastating rains have destroyed crops, leading to harsh criticism from R Ashoka against Congress for neglecting farmers' needs while engaging in costly caste surveys.

BJP Criticizes Congress for Neglecting Karnataka Farmers

Bengaluru, Oct 8 (PTI) - In a strong critique of the current administration, Leader of Opposition R Ashoka on Wednesday spotlighted the dire conditions faced by farmers in the Kalyana Karnataka region due to extensive rains and flooding. Alleging governmental neglect, he accused the Congress leadership of being conspicuously absent in addressing these challenges.

Ashoka questioned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's silence regarding the crisis. He lambasted the state government for allegedly prioritizing the expenditure of hundreds of crores on caste surveys while neglecting the financial and emotional plight of farmers. "Bhima Basin Farmers Devastated - Congress Government Disappears! Floods and relentless rains have ruined thousands of acres of crops across Kalaburagi, Yadgir, and Bidar, leaving over 3.5 lakh farmers in desperate conditions," Ashoka wrote in a post on 'X'.

He highlighted the struggles of tenant farmers who have invested substantial amounts in leased land, only to lose their entire livelihood. Despite this, Ashoka claims Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM D K Shivakumar remain unresponsive and conspicuously absent.

The BJP leader further alleged that rising farmer suicides underscore the gravity of the situation. Ashoka criticized the Congress government for its lack of strategy, relief measures, and empathy, asserting, "This is the true face of the so-called pro-farmer Congress - a party that spends hundreds of crores on caste surveys while farmers drown in debt and despair." He questioned, "Where is Rahul Gandhi, who lectures the nation about justice and compassion?" and accused the Gandhi family along with their "puppets" in Vidhana Soudha of remaining silent.

He condemned the ruling party for what he described as a betrayal of Kalyana Karnataka's farmers, stating, "Every drop of a farmer's sweat has been washed away by this government's apathy, arrogance, and corruption." The post ended with the label "#AntiFarmerCongress".
