Karnataka Congress corporator's daughter stabbed to death in college by ex-student for rejecting advances

A shocking incident has come to light where Neha Hiremath, daughter of Congress corporator Niranjan Hiremanth was stabbed seven times with a knife by a former student at BV Bhoomaraddi College of Engineering and Technology in Hubballi, Karnataka, on April 18. Neha was stabbed after she allegedly rejected his advances. The assailant, identified as Fayaz, was promptly arrested by the police.

According to reports, Neha Hiremath was a first-year Master of Computer Applications (MCA) student at KLE Technological University in Hubbali, Karnataka.

Hubballi Dharwad Police Commissioner Renuka Sukumar said, "The accused had fled, but we arrested him in under 90 minutes. Other students have told us that Neha and the accused knew each other and had studied together. We will know more once the accused’s interrogation is done."

The Indian Express reported that Fayaz is a resident of Savadatti in Belagavi district, and is the son of government school teachers. Six months ago, he had stopped attending college after failing an examination. He was also Neha’s classmate.

The incident was captured on CCTV. In the footage, Neha was seen walking backwards, engaged in a brief conversation with Fayaz until he violently approached her and began stabbing her repeatedly.
