ISRO's Gaganyaan mission's first test flight on October 21

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is all set to conduct an unmanned flight test for the Gaganyaan human spaceflight mission on Saturday, October 21. This test is set to take place between 7 am and 9 am at the Sriharikota spaceport and the capsule will be recovered from the Bay of Bengal.

The announcement about the TV-D1 test flight was made on Monday, October 16. As per the space agency, the test involves launching a crew module to outer space bringing it back to Earth and recovering it after touchdown in the Bay of Bengal.

This project will be able to demonstrate India's human space flight capability by launching a crew of three astronauts to an orbit 400km above the earth’s surface for a three-day mission and bringing them back safely. Currently, the astronauts are undergoing training.
