Influencer makes daughter sit on floor during family lunch because of her period, receives criticism

A social media influencer from Surat, who often shares videos on beauty, travel and fashion on Instagram, is receiving major flak online. A month ago, the influencer named Rupal Mitul Shah shared a video on Instagram in which she was seen following regressive customs for menstruation.

In the viral video, Rupal was having her family lunch at a fancy dining table at their new home, where they had just shifted. In her video, she said that it was their first family lunch since moving.

However, what managed to catch the attention of internet users was that her daughter was sitting on the floor with her plate. While other members of the family were having lunch at the dining table.

The influencer explained this in a caption and said that her daughter was sitting on the floor because she was on her period and they strictly avoid person-to-person contact during those days of the month.

Rupali further said that she and her daughter follow this tradition and this decision was taken by their family ages ago. Shah's caption read, "First family lunch after shifting 🧿❤️… still so much unpacking to be done .. hoping to finish it in 2/3 days …!!
P.S yess.. we strictly avoid person to person contact during those days of month 🩸🩸.. and I and Janvi love to cling to it and we respect that desicion taken by my family since ages , and till today we observe it very strictly ..!"

As internet users came across this video, they reacted by saying that people sitting in a posh-looking house are following such regressive customs, it's a shame.

Others reacted to this video by saying 'a tradition that treats women as untouchables for ..a normal bodily function? And you're not gonna even TRY changing that?'
