Indian Army strikes and neutralises terror launchpads near LoC

In a strong countermeasure to Pakistan's drone attacks, the Indian Army carried out a coordinated fire assault on terror launchpads near the Line of Control during the intervening night of May 8 and 9.

The operation, part of Operation Sindoor, aimed to dismantle terrorist infrastructure and prevent further aggression along the border.

The Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADG PI), in a statement on X, confirmed that the targeted launchpads were critical nodes used for plotting attacks against Indian civilians and forces. "OPERATION SINDOOR. Indian Army Pulverizes Terrorist Launchpads," the ADGPI posted.

"As a response to Pakistan's misadventures of attempted drone strikes on the night of 08 and 09 May 2025 in multiple cities of Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab, the Indian Army conducted a coordinated fire assault on terrorist launchpads, pulverizing & razing them to cinders. The terrorist launchpads, located close to the Line of Control, were a hub for planning and executing terror attacks against Indian civilians and security forces in the past. The Indian Army's swift and decisive action has dealt a significant blow to terrorist infrastructure and capabilities," the ADGPI stated.

According to the army, nine terror camps were neutralised across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir as part of this large-scale strike.

Earlier in the day, Indian air defence units successfully intercepted and destroyed several armed drones launched by Pakistan in an attempted attack on Khasa Cantonment in Punjab’s Amritsar around 5 AM. This was part of Pakistan’s continuing drone incursions targeting military and civilian locations across Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab.

"OPERATION SINDOOR...Pakistan's blatant escalation with drone strikes and other munitions continues along our western borders. In one such incident, today at approximately 5 AM, Multiple enemy armed drones were spotted flying over Khasa Cantt, Amritsar. The hostile drones were instantly engaged and destroyed by our air defence units. Pakistan's blatant attempt to violate India's sovereignty and endanger civilians is unacceptable. Indian Army will thwart enemy designs," the Army stated.

In light of the escalating tensions, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan met Defence Minister Rajnath Singh at his residence on Saturday. The meeting focused on briefing the Raksha Mantri about the current security situation and India’s strategic military response to Pakistan’s recent aggression.
