The "accidental" launch of an Indian missile which fell on Pakistani territory, reportedly caused some concern in Philippines.

Manila recently signed a $375 million deal with Delhi to buy the BrahMos missile. It was developed jointly by India and Russia, and is manufactured by BrahMos Aerospace in India.

Some news reports had suggested that the missile which was accidentally fired was a BrahMos. Pakistan had claimed that on March 9, a supersonic, unarmed Indian missile fell near Mia Channu.

Two days after the missile misfire, the Indian government had blamed a "technical malfunction" during "routine maintenance" for "accidental firing of a missile". Delhi had also announced a high-level inquiry.

Following the incident, a senior Philippines minister sought details from India's envoy. On April 5, during an online interaction organised by the Ananta Aspen Centre, India's ambassador to Philippines said, "I won’t call it a concern, but there was a query… I did have a conversation with the Defence Secretary, and explained to him that there was no technical issue (with the system) and an enquiry is underway."
