New Delhi, July 3 (PTI) — There was a slight improvement in the flood situation across India on Thursday. According to the Central Water Commission's (CWC) daily flood-forecast bulletin, 10 river stations reported water levels above the warning mark, down from 12 sites the previous day. No locations were categorized under "severe" or "extreme" flood conditions. However, several rivers in states such as Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, Odisha, and Tamil Nadu continued to be under close surveillance as their levels breached warning thresholds, with many showing rising or steady trends. On Wednesday, the CWC had identified 12 sites with above-normal flood risks. By Thursday, this reduced to 10, with some rivers showing a decrease in levels, providing a slight respite from flood dangers. Key observations include the Ganga at Farrukhabad in Uttar Pradesh, which recorded a decreasing trend with its current level at 137.09 meters, surpassing the warning level of 136.6 meters. Meanwhile, the Ghagra at Elginbridge in Uttar Pradesh was approaching danger levels at 105.28 meters, with predictions indicating a fall to 105 meters. Inflow forecasts remained significant at 24 sites on Thursday, with major reservoirs like Maithon in Jharkhand, Krishnarajasagar and Upper Tunga in Karnataka experiencing rising trends.
