IAF C-130 Delivers Relief to Landslide-Hit Vaishno Devi Route

New Delhi, Aug 27 (PTI) An Indian Air Force C-130 transport aircraft arrived in Jammu on Wednesday, carrying crucial relief and rescue materials in response to a landslide along the route to the Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine near Adhkuwari, according to sources. The aircraft, originating from the Hindan Air Force base in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, delivered National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) supplies to aid the affected region. Meanwhile, helicopter resources, including the Chinook and Mi-17 V5, remain on "active standby" at nearby airbases in Jammu, Udhampur, Srinagar, and Pathankot, sources reported. Efforts to rescue and provide relief are ongoing near Adhkuwari, the site of Tuesday's landslide that tragically claimed the lives of nine pilgrims and injured 21 others, as confirmed by officials. Concurrently, thousands have been evacuated from the low-lying areas due to relentless heavy rains, which continue to batter the region for a fourth consecutive day, creating widespread chaos across Jammu and Kashmir.
