Hydroponic Cannabis Worth Rs 24 Crore Seized at Lucknow Airport

Lucknow, Aug 29 (PTI) Two individuals have been apprehended at the Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow, suspected of attempting to smuggle hydroponic weed valued at approximately Rs 24 crore.

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) acted on specific intelligence and intercepted the passengers, who had arrived from Bangkok on Air India Express flight IX 105 on August 26.

The passengers reportedly confessed to transporting a significant quantity of hydroponic cannabis in their checked baggage during thorough interrogation by officials.

A comprehensive inspection of their luggage revealed 23.935 kilograms of hydroponic cannabis, which was subsequently confiscated under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.

The suspects were taken into custody on Wednesday and have since been placed under judicial custody, according to a senior official from the DRI.
