On X, the Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (HQ IDS) shared a video tribute to the legendary officer, highlighting his lasting impact. "Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, MC #SamBahadur is remembered today on his 17th death anniversary," the post read. He became the first Indian Army officer to ascend to the rank of Field Marshal. His visionary command during the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War and steadfast dedication to military excellence continue to inspire future generations."
