Heavy Rainfall Alert Issued for Jharkhand Districts

Ranchi, Sep 15 (PTI) – Parts of Jharkhand faced rainfall on Monday morning, coinciding with an alert for heavy rainfall in 16 districts until 8:30 am on Tuesday, as per an IMD official. The IMD issued a yellow alert for districts including East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Simdega, Seraikela-Kharswan, Deoghar, Dumka, Giridih, Godda, Jamtara, Pakur, Sahibganj, Ranchi, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Khunti, and Ramgarh. A similar alert has been declared for 11 districts from 8:30 am on September 16 to 8:30 am on September 17, and for 13 districts from 8:30 am on September 17 to 8:30 am on September 18.

The deputy director of the Ranchi Meteorological Centre, Abhishek Anand, stated that a major portion of the state is expected to witness widespread rainfall for three days due to a cyclonic circulation and trough line. Since Sunday afternoon, Ranchi has been seeing light to moderate rainfall. By 5:30 pm on Sunday, the city had received 30.2 mm of rainfall.

According to the weather officials, the state recorded 18 per cent surplus rainfall from June 1 to September 14. During this period, the eastern state got 1,079.4 mm of rain in comparison to the normal of 913.4 mm.

Seraikela-Kharswan district registered the highest surplus rainfall at 52 per cent, followed by Ranchi at 45 per cent, the official mentioned. Conversely, Pakur district showed a 26 per cent deficit in rainfall until September 14.
