Haryana CEO Agarwal calls for adherence to election transfer guidelines

Haryana's Chief Electoral Officer Anurag Agarwal, emphasised the strict adherence of department heads to directives issued by the Election Commission of India for the upcoming Lok Sabha 2024 general elections.

The Election Commission has mandated the transfer of high-ranking police officers completing a three-year term in a parliamentary constituency or district, along with District Election Officers finishing a one-year tenure in the last four years.

Agarwal conducted a review meeting to ensure compliance and instructed department heads to promptly submit a compliance report to the Chief Secretary and Director-General of Police.

The Election Commission has modified its transfer policy, mandating the transfer of various officers involved in election-related roles.

This includes District Election Officers, Sub District Election Officers, police officers, and others who have completed a 3-year term in the same parliamentary constituency or district within the last four years. The directive also prohibits the posting of district returning officers and assistant returning officers in their home districts' parliamentary constituencies.
