22-Year-Old Gogi Gang Affiliate Arrested for Rohini Shooting

New Delhi, Jun 25 (PTI): A 22-year-old affiliated with the infamous Gogi gang, identified as Chirag alias Kala, has been apprehended by the Delhi Police crime branch. The arrest occurred on Wednesday, following a shooting incident that took place earlier this month outside a businessman's residence in Rohini. Chirag, a resident of Narela, was found in possession of two pistols accompanied by two bullets at the time of his arrest, according to police officials.

Later, during the investigation, another pistol allegedly used in the crime was discovered, the officials added. On June 9th, four assailants on motorcycles opened fire on two vehicles parked outside the residence of a businessman in Rohini Sector 16. The brazen attack unfolded in broad daylight, inciting panic among the area's residents. Officials registered an FIR at KNK Marg police station regarding the incident, which resulted in damage to the two cars.

Initially, police explored angles involving personal rivalries and local disputes, but no significant leads emerged. Multiple teams were created to probe the case, eventually gaining a breakthrough through a tip-off. The information suggested that one of the shooters would be present on Nalah Road in Sector 25. Acting on this tip, police set a trap and detained the suspect, Chirag, at approximately 8:30 AM while he was seemingly waiting for someone.

Upon interrogation, Chirag disclosed that he was following orders from his cousin, Akshay alias Taxi, who is currently incarcerated and has connections with the Gogi gang. Chirag confessed to threatening local hoodlums and businessmen under Akshay's directives. Specifically, he fired at the businessman's vehicles in Sector 16, suspecting the businessman had informed the authorities.

Authorities have identified Chirag's accomplices in the attack as Umesh Sharma, Sunny, and a juvenile. They revealed that Chirag, the son of a caterer from Gannaur in Haryana, embarked on his criminal endeavors under Akshay's influence, engaging in numerous acts of intimidation and bullying for the gang.
