'Galwan says hi': Richa Chadha's reaction to Indian Army statement on PoK sparks controversy

Actor Richa Chadha has sparked a controversy with a reaction to an Indian Army statement.

She commented on Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi's statement that the Army is ready to take back Pakistan Occupied Kashmir if the government issues the order. Dwivedi is the general officer commanding-in-chief of the Northern Command.

Tweeting on the Army officer's statement, Richa said, "Galwan says hi."

Bharatiya Janata Party leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa called Richa's tweet "disgraceful". He demanded that the tweet be "withdrawn at the earliest" as "insulting our armed forces is not justified".

Galwan valley in Ladakh was the site of a deadly skirmish between Indian and Chinese soldiers in 2020. The fight occurred as Chinese forces made aggressive moves in Ladakh, intruding into territory controlled by India in the disputed region.

The June 15 clash was the one of the worst in 45 years and led to the deaths of 20 Indian soldiers. China had initially not revealed how many of its soldiers died, but later said the number was 5. The actual death toll is believed to be much higher.
