From hiding grey hair to going bald: Air India's grooming guidelines for crew

Air India has issued grooming guidelines for its crew covering several area like grey hair, receding hairlines and wedding rings.

Male cabin crew members who have a receding hairline or bald patches have been asked to completely shave off their head. They have been asked to shave their head daily to maintain a clean look. Crew cut has also been disallowed.

According to reports, all crew members have been asked to get their hair dyed a nature colour to hide greying. Use of henna or 'fashion colours' is not allowed.

The grooming handbook says that the male crew can only wear rings which are wedding bands and only bracelets Sikhs wear as a symbol of their faith with a max width of 0.5cm without any design, logos, or stones will be allowed.

Women have been barred from wearing pearl earrings and been asked to wear only round gold and diamond studs without any design and ornamentation.

The guidelines also dictate the attire the Air India crew is allowed to wear when they are off-duty. It says any crew member travelling on leave onboard an Air India flight needs to be dressed in smart casuals.
