Four members of the outlawed Socialist Revolution Party of Kangleipak were arrested near the India-Myanmar border in Manipur’s Tengnoupal district, police reported on Tuesday.

The arrests occurred at border pillar 79 in Pangal Basti, under Moreh Police Station limits, on Monday. A senior officer confirmed that one smartphone with three SIM cards was seized from their possession, and a case has been registered for further investigation.

The arrested individuals were identified as Leishangthem Somorjit Singh (34), Pebam Malemnganba Singh (18), Laishram Nelson Singh (22), and Ningthoujam Milan Meitei (25).

In separate search operations in Kangpokpi and Churachandpur districts, security forces recovered eight firearms. At PK Park in Torbung, under Churachandpur Police Station, five firearms and eight grenades were seized on Monday. Another operation in Maohing village under Kangpokpi Police Station led to the recovery of three pistols and ammunition.

These search operations are part of ongoing efforts to curb violence in Manipur, which has been grappling with ethnic unrest since May 2023. Over 250 people have lost their lives, and thousands have been displaced in the violence.
