Four Arrested in Connection with Punjabi Bagh Murder in Delhi

New Delhi, June 26 (PTI) — The Delhi Police have taken into custody four individuals in connection with the murder of a 22-year-old man, who was fatally attacked with stones and sharp weapons following a dispute in the Punjabi Bagh locality, officials reported on Thursday.

The victim, Durgesh, was accompanied by friends Akash, Kaptan, and Narveer when the tragic incident occurred near the Transport Centre around midnight on June 22. According to police sources, Narveer, the complainant, stated that the group had gathered there to smoke when they engaged in a verbal altercation with three to four unidentified men, which quickly escalated into a violent confrontation.

In the ensuing altercation, the assailants used sharp objects and stones, attacking the group. While Akash, Kaptan, and Narveer sustained minor injuries, Durgesh was critically injured and was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The perpetrators fled the scene immediately after the assault. In pursuit of justice, the police reviewed over 250 CCTV video clips and conducted interviews with local residents and witnesses. Informants were also deployed to assist in identifying the suspects from the surveillance footage, leading to the arrests.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Himanshu Paswan (20), Deepak (20), Parveen (22), and Md Nekat (20). Authorities are currently working to recover the weapons used in the crime.
