Fadnavis Labels Rahul Gandhi a 'Serial Liar' Over Vote Theft Claims

Maharashtra CM Fadnavis dismisses Rahul Gandhi's vote theft accusations, labeling him as deceitful. Gandhi and other leaders urge investigation into alleged electoral manipulation by BJP in several states.

Fadnavis Labels Rahul Gandhi a 'Serial Liar' Over Vote Theft Claims

Mumbai, Aug 25 (PTI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has dismissed Congress MP Rahul Gandhi's accusations of "vote theft" against the BJP, labeling Gandhi as a "serial liar."

According to Fadnavis, the claims made by the opposition are self-serving. He expressed disappointment over some Maharashtra leaders who appear to believe in Gandhi's statements. "I have stated before that Rahul Gandhi is a serial liar," he said. "His deceitful remarks continue unabated."

Addressing the allegations of electoral malpractice, CM Fadnavis emphasized that misinformation lacks a substantive foundation. "A castle built on falsehoods will inevitably collapse. To win over voters, leaders must engage directly with the populace and earn their trust," he added.

Rahul Gandhi has accused the BJP of manipulating votes in states like Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Haryana. He asserted that similar efforts aimed at influencing the electorate in Bihar are being orchestrated by the ruling party at the national level, allegedly in partnership with the Election Commission.

These concerns have been echoed by other opposition factions, such as the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT), prompting them to instruct their party workers to scrutinize electoral rolls for any fictitious entries.

Moreover, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray pointed out that he has been highlighting "vote theft" since 2016. Thackeray urged the Election Commission to investigate the issue, especially given the allegations made by both Rahul Gandhi and BJP leader Anurag Thakur.

On Sunday, CM Fadnavis remarked that those who allege electoral misconduct do so more as a way to console their party workers after electoral defeats, rather than engaging in introspection.
