Police Rescue 7-Year-Old Kidnapped by Mother's Ex-Partner

New Delhi, Oct 3 (PTI) — In a dramatic rescue, police successfully recovered a seven-year-old boy who was allegedly kidnapped by his mother's ex-live-in partner, seeking to pressure her into rekindling their past relationship. The main accused, along with three accomplices, has been apprehended, according to officials on Friday.

Authorities stated that the child's mother had been residing in Hansi, Haryana, with Ajay Verma, aged 24, the primary suspect, and her son from a previous marriage. The marriage had previously ended in divorce. Due to Verma's escalating possessive and violent behavior, she decided to leave and returned to her parental home in Delhi.

Verma, who works in mobile repair, is suspected of plotting with his allies to abduct the boy as leverage to compel her back into the relationship.

The accomplices are reported as Amit, 18, working in a tent house, Sachin, 20, an employee at a PVC factory, and another Ajay, 20, who is a sweeper. While Amit and Sachin are from Hisar, Haryana, Ajay is from Vikaspuri, Delhi.

The investigation commenced after the mother filed a complaint at Vikaspuri Police Station on September 28, reporting her son's disappearance after school and suspecting Verma's involvement.

A case was initiated under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and a thorough probe ensued.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Sharad Bhaskar Darade revealed that CCTV footage near the boy's school showed two men taking him away on a motorcycle.

Despite frequent switching off of their phones, the police utilized advanced technical and social media tracking techniques to trace the suspects.

Ajay from Vikaspuri was quickly located and questioned, leading to the revelation that Verma had contacted him via social media to procure a firearm. Acting on further intelligence, police pinpointed a farm in Hansi where Verma was hiding alongside the boy and his two aides.

A coordinated raid achieved the child's safe recovery and the capture of Verma, Amit, and Sachin.

In a parallel operation, Ajay was detained at his residence in Vikaspuri, where police seized a pistol, resulting in a separate FIR under the Arms Act.

Except for Sachin, who has prior charges under the Arms Act, the other suspects have no previous criminal history, sources disclosed.
