Dr. Naba Kumar Bezbaruah Appointed Dean of TRIHMS in Naharlagun

Itanagar, Sep 18 (PTI) — The Arunachal Pradesh government has announced the appointment of Dr. Naba Kumar Bezbaruah, Professor of Anatomy, as the new Dean of the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) located in Naharlagun, not far from Itanagar.

Dr. Bezbaruah has also been assigned the additional responsibility of serving as the Functional Director of the state’s only medical college. This arrangement will continue until further directives are issued, according to an official statement released on Thursday.

The decision was finalized by the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) during its meeting convened on Wednesday.

Per the official order, Dr. Bezbaruah will oversee the comprehensive supervision and academic direction of TRIHMS. However, the authority to grant administrative and financial sanctions remains with the state Health and Family Welfare Secretary.

This elevation comes in the wake of the sudden demise of Professor Dr. Shyamal Bhattacharya, the previous Dean and Principal of TRIHMS, who passed away on Tuesday morning after battling a prolonged illness.

The formal notification of Dr. Bezbaruah’s appointment and additional responsibilities received the approval of the state Governor. It was signed by Pawan Kumar Sain, Commissioner of Health & Family Welfare.
