'Don't flood court with...': On gangrape & murder probe plea, Supreme Court tells father to go to HC 1st

"Do not flood this court with these types of petitions" - this is what the Supreme Court reportedly told a man seeking an investigation into the alleged gang-rape and murder of his minor daughter. A Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice of India NV Ramana reportedly asked the petitioner to approach the High Court first.

The judges reprimanded the petitioner's counsel for directly approaching the top court, as per a Live Law report. Chief Justice Ramana reportedly said, "Don't flood this court with these types of petitions, sorry. You can go to High Court and say the same. Why are you coming directly to Supreme Court straightaway?"

The petitioner reportedly said, "I am a labourer, I can't go to High Court, to Supreme Court, I am a victim of the system, there's complete lawlessness in UP." The petitioner claimed that his 16-year-old daughter was kidnapped, gang-raped, and murdered in UP's Bulandshahr on January 21, 2022.

He reportedly claimed that the police did not file an FIR, and also didn't allow the victim's family to perform her last rites
The victim's mortal remains were forcibly cremated at midnight, as per the petition. The father reportedly sought either a CBI probe, or the formation of a Special Investigation Team overseen by a sitting or retired judge of the High Court or Supreme Court.

The apex court allowed the petitioner to approach a high court with the requests.
