'Didn't beg for freedom': PM Modi unveils hologram of Netaji Bose statue at India Gate

On the 125th birth anniversary of Subhas Chandra Bose, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a hologram of the statue of the freedom fighter at India Gate.

The hologram would soon be replaced by a granite statue. It is located under a cupola which once housed a statue of British monarch King George V. The hologram measures 28 feet by 6 feet and is reportedly powered by a 30,000 lumens 4k projector. The light is projected onto a high gain, 90% transparent holographic screen which is not visible to spectators.

Addressing the gathering, PM Modi said that there had been an attempt in the past to erase the contributions of many freedom fighters from history books. He said that this mistake is being rectified now. He named Bhimrao Ambedkar, Vallabhbhai Patel, and Birsa Munda among those being given due credit by the current government.

Remembering Bose's efforts to liberate India, PM Modi said that the freedom fighter had told the British that he did not want to beg for independence, but attain it.
