Law-enforcement agencies also seized cash amounting to ₹5.29 crore and 37.39 kg of silver, according to an official statement.

In a major operation on Thursday night, the Excise Intelligence Bureau (EIB) intercepted two vehicles in Burari and Mahipalpur, recovering 5,000 bottles containing 3,600 litres of liquor worth ₹12 lakh. In Burari, a truck carrying 3,036 bottles of Haryana-marked liquor was seized after a 14-kilometre chase. Another mini-truck with 1,812 bottles was intercepted in Mahipalpur.
The department is also ensuring compliance with Election Commission directives, including intensified inspections of liquor warehouses and restrictions on coupon-based bookings at hotels, clubs, and bars. Both February 5 (voting day) and February 8 (counting day) have been declared "dry days" in Delhi.
The excise department's ongoing crackdown underscores its commitment to addressing the illicit liquor trade during the election season, despite limited staff and resources, the official added.

Delhi Police on Monday detained Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal as she protested outside the residence of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, demanding action over the government's failure to clean the Yamuna River.&nbsp;
Maliwal, accompanied by a group of women from Purvanchal, arrived at Kejriwal's residence carrying water from the Yamuna to highlight the river's deteriorating condition.
Speaking to reporters, Maliwal described the river as being "on a ventilator" and criticized Kejriwal for living in luxury while the Yamuna remains polluted.&nbsp;

She challenged the Delhi Chief Minister to take a dip in the river, saying, "Arvind Kejriwal has turned the Yamuna River into a drain. Black, dirty, rotten water is flowing in Yamuna. The river is on a ventilator, while Arvind Kejriwal is in his palace and roams around in luxurious cars. Thousands of women from Purvanchal have come here to challenge him- he should not be so scared of women and should come out and take a dip in the dirty water of Yamuna and take a sip of that water."
Maliwal further added that the women of Purvanchal are also upset with Kejriwal due to his unfulfilled promises, claiming that they believe "he will be cursed by Chhathi Maiya because the women have no other place to celebrate Chhath."
The Delhi High Court recently heard a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) regarding the ban on Chhath Puja on the banks of the Yamuna. The court did not issue any directions, citing the severe contamination of the river. It pointed out that nearly 1,000 alternative locations had been designated for the celebrations, with adequate arrangements in place.

Standing by the Yamuna, Maliwal questioned the allocation of funds for its cleaning.&nbsp;
She said, "Yamuna River has transformed into a drain because of Arvind Kejriwal. I have come here with thousands of Purvanchali women, and the situation here is so bad that the stench has made it difficult for us to stand here. The Purvanchali women are going with me to Arvind Kejriwal's residence and want to ask him, where did the Rs 7500 crores allotted for cleaning the river go?"

Maliwal, who has been an outspoken critic of Kejriwal ahead of the upcoming Delhi elections on February 5, accused him of failing to fulfill his promises.&nbsp;
Earlier, on January 30, she lambasted Kejriwal for being "unbothered" by the growing garbage problem in the city, accusing him of shifting from an "Aam Aadmi" (common man) to a "Khaas Aadmi" (VIP).

Around 1.56 crore voters are set to exercise their electoral franchise in the Delhi Assembly election on February 5 as voter-friendly measures have been put in place for the smooth polling process, Chief Electoral Officer R. Alice Vaz said.
To facilitate voting, 13,766 polling stations have been set up across 2,969 polling premises. Of these, 733 polling stations are designated for persons with disabilities, Vaz said.
Around 1.56 crore voters, including 83.76 lakh men, 72.36 lakh women, and 1,267 individuals from the third gender will cast their ballot on February 5.
The Delhi Election Office has introduced several voter-friendly measures to ensure a smooth polling process. These include ramps, wheelchairs, medical teams, crche services, themed polling stations, a queue management mobile application and a home voting option for senior citizens and persons with disabilities, she said.
Vaz emphasised that over 1 lakh polling personnel have been deployed, and all polling stations will have essential amenities under the Assured Minimum Facility (AMF) policy. These include waiting areas, drinking water, toilets, ramps, and wheelchairs. Paramedical staff with basic medical kits will also be stationed at polling centres.
To enhance voter experience, 210 polling stations will be set up as Theme-Based Model Polling Stations with additional facilities, she said.
Moreover, 70 polling stations -- one in each assembly constituency -- will be fully managed by women staff. Another 70 polling stations will be operated entirely by persons with disabilities to promote inclusivity and an equal number of youth-centric polling stations will be set up to encourage young voters, the CEO said.
The "Vote From Home" initiative will allow 6,488 senior citizens aged 85 and above, along with 1,051 persons with disabilities, to cast their votes from home, ensuring accessibility for all eligible voters, she stated.
"To help voters locate their polling stations, a colour-coded system will be used, with details mentioned on the Voter Information Slip. Additionally, 4,217 wheelchairs will be made available for easy mobility," said Vaz.
Addressing Model Code of Conduct (MCC) violations, Vaz stated that the cVIGIL app has received 5,244 complaints, with the highest number from North District (1,049) and the lowest from Shahdara (136). Authorities have maintained an average response time of 35 minutes.
For the first time in India, a Queue Management System (QMS) application and webpage will enable voters to check real-time crowd levels at polling centres, helping them plan their visit. The app, Delhi Election 2025 QMS, is available on the Google Play Store, she mentioned.
"We are also arranging Dummy/Braille ballot paper, Braille EPIC cards, Braille VAG. 120 nos of SLI are also deployed," Vaz said.
She further shared that to ensure security during polling, 220 companies of forces, 19,000 home guards, and 35,626 Delhi Police personnel will be deployed. Additionally, 21,584 Ballot Units, 20,692 Control Units, and 18,943 VVPATs have been prepared including Dummy/Braille ballot paper, she said.
For voter assistance, 8,715 trained volunteers will be deployed. A pick-and-drop facility can be accessed via the 1950 helpline, mobile app, or Saksham ECI App. Special provisions include Braille ballot papers, EPIC cards, and 120 Sign Language Interpreters, Vaz said.
Vote counting will take place at 19 centres across 11 districts, as approved by the ECI. So far, 6,633 postal ballots have been cast through home voting for senior citizens and persons with disabilities, while 13,958 ballots have been cast by election duty voters, she added.
The Delhi Assembly election is scheduled for February 5, and the results will be announced on February 8.

Former councilor and February 2020 Delhi riots accused Tahir Hussain requested the Supreme Court on Tuesday that he be allowed to campaign in custody for the upcoming Delhi assembly polls.
&nbsp; Senior advocate Siddharth Aggarwal, appearing for Hussain, told a bench of Justices Vikram Nath, Sanjay Karol, and Sandeep Mehta that only four days are left for campaigning so he be allowed to connect with the electorate under police custody.
&nbsp; "The place where my house is alleged to have been where Delhi riots took place. I am fighting for Mustafabad seat and even for staying purposes, I am saying I will not go to the house and will stay in a hotel and provide details," Aggarwal said.
Additional Solicitor General SV Raju opposed the prayer, saying his role is serious. He said if granted the relief, everybody would fill out a nomination form in jail.
&nbsp;The court asked Raju to seek instructions on what expenses and sort of security would be required.
&nbsp;The bench also told Aggarwal to inform what undertakings Hussain would give.
The order is scheduled to be pronounced at 2 pm.
&nbsp;Hussain failed to secure interim bail on January 22, after a two-judge bench of the apex court gave a split verdict.
The Delhi High Court granted custody parole to Hussain on January 14 to file his nomination papers from the Mustafabad constituency on an All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) ticket.
Violence broke out in northeast Delhi on February 24, 2020, leaving 53 people dead and several injured.
&nbsp;Hussain is an accused in a case connected to the death of Intelligence Bureau staffer Ankit Sharma.
According to the prosecution, on February 26, 2020, complainant Ravinder Kumar informed the Dayalpur police station that his son, Ankit Sharma, had been missing since the previous day.
Sharma's body was reportedly found in the Khajuri Khas nullah in the riot-affected area and it bore 51 injuries.
