The saffron party also comfortably won the Shalimar Bagh B ward, with Anita Jain defeating AAP's Babita Rana by a margin of over 10,000 votes. The Shalimar Bagh B ward was vacated after sitting BJP councillor Rekha Gupta won the assembly polls in February and became Delhi's chief minister.
AAP won the Mundka and Dakshinpuri wards, while Congress's Suresh Choudhary won the Sangam Vihar A ward by defeating BJP's Subhajeet Gautam. Choudhary polled 12,766 votes while his opponent managed to get 9,138 votes.
BJP's Veena Asija was locked in a close fight with AAP's Seema Goyal but surged ahead to win the Ashok Vihar ward by a margin of 405 votes.
All India Forward Bloc candidate Mohd Imran won the Chandni Mahal seat by defeating AAP's Mudassar Usman by a margin of 4,692 votes.
The BJP also won the Dichaon Kalan and Greater Kailash wards and the Dwarka-B ward, which was earlier held by its Kamaljeet Sehrawat. Sehrawat is now a BJP MP. The saffron party's Manisha Rani won the Dwarka-B ward by a comfortable margin of 9,100 votes against AAP's Raj Bala.
AAP's Rajan Arora won the Naraina seat by just 148 votes against the BJP's Chandrakanta Shivani.
The counting of votes for the MCD bypolls to 12 wards began at 8 am amid tight security. Of the 12 wards where voting was held on November 30, nine were earlier held by the BJP and the remaining by AAP.
The State Election Commission, Delhi, had set up 10 counting centres, one each at Kanjhawala, Pitampura, Bharat Nagar, Civil Lines, Rouse Avenue, Dwarka, Najafgarh, Gole Market, Pushp Vihar and Mandawali.
The strong rooms where the EVMs are stored after polling were secured with adequate security measures, including round-the-clock CCTV surveillance and the deployment of paramilitary and Delhi Police personnel.
The vote percentage in the bypolls was 38.51 per cent as compared to 50.47 per cent in the MCD elections held for 250 wards in 2022.

The winter chill, meanwhile, intensified with the minimum temperature dropping to 5.7 degrees Celsius, which is 4.6 degrees below the season's average, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.&nbsp;
The relative humidity was recorded at 100 per cent at 8.30 am. The IMD said the maximum temperature is expected to settle around 24 degrees Celsius.&nbsp;
As per CPCB standards, an AQI between 0 and 50 is considered 'good', 51-100 'satisfactory', 101-200 'moderate', 201-300 'poor', 301-400 'very poor', and 401-500 'severe'.&nbsp;

On Monday, the Delhi Police told a court here that the group of protesters arrested for allegedly using pepper spray on cops raised slogans hailing slain Maoist leader Madvi Hidma.
The police have registered two different FIRs -- one at the Kartavya Path police station against six protesters and the other at the Sansad Marg police station against 17 people.
The new section has been added to the Kartavya Path FIR. After the accused were produced before two magisterial courts, 22 were sent to judicial custody.
The newly-added Section 197 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) pertains to imputations and assertions prejudicial to national integration, which includes charges for disseminating false information that endangers India's sovereignty, unity, or security.
The FIR said the protesters raised alleged Maoist slogans, including "Hidma amar rahe", "Kitne Hidma maroge, har ghar se Hidma nikalega" and "Hidma lal salaam", prompting the addition of Section 197 for assertions deemed prejudicial to national integration.
Top Maoist commander Madvi Hidma, who masterminded several attacks over the past two decades, was killed in an encounter on November 18, a breakthrough the Chhattisgarh Police described as the "last nail in the coffin" of the insurgency.
Security forces gunned down Hidma, his wife Raje, and four other Naxalites in the action in Andhra Pradesh's Alluri Sitaramaraju district.
According to the Kartavya Path FIR, police had prior information that protesters under the banner of the Delhi Coordination Committee for Clean Air were planning to assemble at the India Gate.
They were also informed that activists from student groups, including AISA and the JNU Students' Union (JNUSU), were likely to join the protest.
&ldquo;When we reached the spot, we found a group of men and women carrying pamphlets and banners. They were informed that protests are not allowed at the India Gate and that the Jantar Mantar is the designated site for demonstrations," a senior police officer said.
Despite repeated warnings, several protesters climbed over barricades and entered the C-Hexagon, blocking traffic for over an hour.
As police attempted to disperse them, some protesters allegedly assaulted them. &ldquo;During the scuffle, a student attacked police, and some used a bottle containing pepper spray on our officers,&rdquo; police said.
Several policemen were injured and taken to the RML Hospital.
Another confrontation reportedly broke out at the Parliament Street police station when the detainees were brought there, officials said.
The Kartavya Path FIR now includes sections 74, 79, 115(2), 132, 197, 221 and 223 of the BSS, while the FIR lodged at the Parliament Street police station includes charges under BNS sections 223A, 132, 221, 121A and 126(2).

The student's father told PTI that the suspension was "only temporary" and demanded the arrest of the teachers named in the FIR. "We need to send a message that no teacher should treat our children like that," he said.
The Education Department said, "In pursuance of the imperative to comprehensively ascertain the factual matrix, causative circumstances and administrative accountability associated with the unfortunate incident that occurred on November 18, it has constituted a High-Level Inquiry Committee comprising senior officers."
It added that the committee will undertake a "thorough, objective and time-bound inquiry" and submit a comprehensive report with findings, observations and recommendations within three days of the order's issuance.
The suspension order sent to the four staff members individually mentioned, "In view of the seriousness of the allegations, the competent authority has decided to place you under suspension with immediate effect."
It specifies that the staffers will remain suspended until the completion of the investigation and further directions from the competent authority.
They have been instructed to remain available for official communication, refrain from visiting the school premises, and avoid interaction with students, staff or parents without prior written permission from the administration.
The class 10 student, who had reportedly dreamt of becoming "the next Shah Rukh Khan", died on Tuesday after he allegedly jumped from the Rajendra Place Metro Station around 2.34 pm.
He was taken to BLK Super Speciality Hospital, where doctors declared him dead, police said.
A senior police officer said the boy left a suicide note naming a few teachers, alleging mental harassment, apologising to his family, and requesting that his organs be donated.
The FIR, registered at the Rajendra Nagar police station, includes charges related to abetment of suicide.
Police are recording statements of classmates, teachers and school authorities as part of the investigation.

Around the same time, an unidentified man called the Police Control Room (PCR) around 9 am, claiming that bombs had been placed inside CRPF schools located in Prashant Vihar and Dwarka. The threat triggered immediate mobilisation of local police, bomb disposal squads and the Delhi Fire Services at all locations.
"After receiving the call, teams were rushed to both schools and the buildings were evacuated as a precaution," a senior police officer said. He said the caller's phone switched off soon after issuing the threat, and efforts are underway to trace him.
Parallel checks were carried out at the three court complexes based on the email alert. "We thoroughly inspected the schools, and nothing suspicious was found. The threat was declared a hoax," a Delhi Fire Services official said.
Police sources said similar inspections at the courts are underway, but nothing suspicious has been found so far.
Dhir Singh Kasana, former secretary of the Saket Court Bar Association, said that court proceedings had been suspended for around two hours and would resume after lunch.
Navneet Panwar, vice president of the New Delhi Bar Association in Patiala House courts, confirmed that a bomb threat had been received by email, following which a sanitisation exercise was conducted. "The court proceedings are on. There was only a brief halt," Panwar said.
Meanwhile, there was heavy security in Patiala House courts as Jasir Bilal Wani, NIA's second arrest in the Red Fort bomb blast probe, was to be produced here.
These hoax calls come in the wake of the recent Red Fort blast. A car carrying an improvised explosive device exploded near the historical monument on November 10, claiming 15 lives and injuring several others. Investigators have found the alleged links of the incident with the terror module security agencies busted in Faridabad, Haryana, before the blast.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Amit Goel said, "The caller was contacted. He said that while he was on the way to Gurugram, a loud noise was heard. We checked everything and nothing was found."
"During local enquiry, a guard informed us that the rear tyre of a DTC bus going towards Dhaula Kuan had burst and the sound came from that," the DCP said.
The situation is normal and there is nothing to worry, he added.

According to the advisory, traffic curbs will be in place from 9 am to 12 noon along W Point, A Point, ITO Chowk, BSZ Marg, Delhi Gate, JLN Marg, Rajghat Crossing, Shanti Van Crossing, Hanuman Setu Y Point, Netaji Subhash Marg, Nishad Raj Marg, Saleem Garh Flyover Bypass, the MGM Pragati Maidan Tunnel to Hanuman Setu, Kashmere Gate, Vikas Marg and IP Marg.&nbsp;
MGM Pragati Maidan Tunnel towards Hanuman Setu will remain closed during this period and commuters have been asked to use alternative routes, it said.&nbsp;
"Parking will be allowed only in designated areas," it read. No parking will be permitted on Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, JLN Marg and Ring Road from Hanuman Setu'-Shanti Van to Rajghat, IP Flyover to Pragati Maidan Tunnel, and along Nishad Raj Marg and IP Marg on Friday, it added.&nbsp;
Vehicles parked on these stretches will be towed and prosecuted as per law, the Delhi Traffic Police said in a post on X.&nbsp;
No vehicle will be allowed to halt or park from 10 am to 11.30 am on Mother Teresa Crescent, Teen Murti Marg, Akbar Road, MLNP and Janpath Road. Vehicles parked in violation of the advisory will be towed and kept at Kali Bari Mandir Marg traffic pit and in front of Bhairon Mandir traffic pit.&nbsp;
The advisory lists diversions at Vandematram Marg to Simon Bolivar Marg, RA Kautilya Marg, San Martin to Manas Crossing, San Martin to ABHM Crossing, San Martin to Abhai Crossing, Sunheri Masjid Road and R A Rail Bhawan.&nbsp;
Routes to avoid during this period, according to the Delhi Traffic Police, are Sardar Patel Marg, Mother Teresa Crescent, Teen Murti Marg, Akbar Road, MLNP and Janpath Road, while alternative routes suggested are DDU Marg, Asaf Ali Road, Maulana Azad Road, K Kamraj Marg, Raisina Road and Rafi Marg.&nbsp;
The advisory also states that no vehicle will be permitted to halt or park on Janpath Road, R A Windsor Place, Firoz Shah Road, R A Mandi House, Sikandra Road and W Point from 11 am to 12.30 pm. Diversions announced for this period include Janpath-Tolstoy Marg, Tolstoy-KG Marg, Ranjit Singh Flyover-Barakhamba Road, Sunheri Masjid Road and R A Rail Bhawan.&nbsp;
The advisory adds that Janpath-Tolstoy Marg, Tolstoy-KG Marg, Ranjit Singh Flyover'-Barakhamba Road, Firoz Shah Road, Sikandra Road, W Point, Akbar Road, MLNP and Janpath Road should be avoided, and that commuters may instead use DDU Marg, Asaf Ali Road, Maulana Azad Road, K Kamraj Marg, Raisina Road and Rafi Marg.&nbsp;
Between 3 pm and 5 pm, no vehicle will be allowed to halt or park on Janpath Road, R A Windsor Place, Firoz Shah Road, R A Mandi House, Sikandra Road, W Point, Mathura Road and Bhairon Marg. Vehicles found parked will be towed and prosecuted and kept at the designated traffic pits, it said.&nbsp;
According to the advisory, between 5 pm and 9 pm, no parking or halting will be allowed on Mother Teresa Crescent, Teen Murti Marg, Akbar Road, MLNP and Janpath Road.&nbsp;
The advisory lists diversions at Janpath-Tolstoy Marg, Tolstoy-KG Marg, Ranjit Singh Flyover-Barakhamba Road, W Point, MLNP, Q Point, Sunheri Masjid Road, R A Sunheri Masjid Road, Claridge Hotel, Akbar Road, Man Singh Road, NSCI Club at Mathura Road and Bhagwan Das Road or Tilak Marg. Firoz Shah Road, Sikandra Road, Janpath Road, Kartavya Path, Mathura Road and Bhairon Road should also be avoided, it said.&nbsp;
Alternative routes suggested by the advisory include Prithvi Raj Road, DDU Marg, Asaf Ali Road and Maulana Azad Road.&nbsp;
The Delhi Traffic Police has advised commuters to use public transport as much as possible and plan travel in advance, especially for airport, railway station and ISBT.

"Minute-to-minute coordination is underway, and all concerned agencies have been instructed to maintain maximum vigilance throughout. Over 5,000 police personnel will be deployed to maintain strict vigil," the officer said.&nbsp;
Top-ranking Delhi Police officers are supervising route security, traffic arrangements and area sanitisation around locations likely to feature in the Russian president's schedule.&nbsp;
"All routes mapped for VVIP movement have been secured in advance. Traffic advisories will be issued from time to time to minimise inconvenience to commuters. Anti-drone systems will be in place," another official said.&nbsp;
Delhi Police, central agencies and Putin's personal security detail have formed a multi-layered security grid with SWAT teams, anti-terror units, snipers and quick-reaction teams stationed at sensitive points.&nbsp;

Ramjas College in north Delhi and Deshbandhu College in south Delhi received the threats via emails, the official said.&nbsp;
"Ramjas college principal informed authorities that the threat mail was received at 1.59 am, following which Delhi Police and the Bomb Disposal Team (BDT) reached the campus and began anti-sabotage checks," Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Raja Banthia said.&nbsp;
Police cordoned off the area and launched a thorough inspection of all buildings and open spaces inside the campuses.&nbsp;
No suspicious object has been found so far, and further verification is underway, the DCP added.&nbsp;
