Sam Pitroda clarifies his 'inheritance tax' remarks, says words are being twisted

Indian Overseas Congress chairman Sam Pitroda issued a clarification on his remarks on the inheritance tax following a massive uproar.

Taking to microblogging site X, Pitroda said that his words were twisted and that he merely stated it as a fact that is prevailing in America. The clarification comes amidst the BJP launching a salvo against the Congress, claiming that the party endorses implementing an inheritance tax in India.

"Who said 55% will be taken away? Who said something like this should be done in India? Why is BJP and media in panic ?" he said.

"I mentioned US inheritance tax in the US only as an example in my normal conversation on TV. Can I not mention facts? I said these are the kind of issues people will have to discuss and debate. This has nothing to do with the policy of any party including congress," he said on X.
