'Rajnath Singh lied in Lok Sabha': Rahul Gandhi doubles down on Agniveer martyr compensation

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi claimed that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh lied in Lok Sabha when he said that the families of the Agniveers martyrs get a compensation of over Rs 1 crore.

Taking to X on the 3rd of July, Gandhi shared a video where he was seen talking to parents of Agniveers who lost their lives to back his claim.

Notably, the video also shows Gandhi sitting beside the poster of Lord Shiva, presumably the same one he used during his maiden speech as the Leader of the Opposition.

"Defence Minister Rajnath Singh lied in Parliament about the assistance given to the family of martyred Agniveer. Martyr Agniveer Ajay Singh's father himself has told the truth about their lies. The Defence Minister should apologise to the Parliament, the country, the Army and the family of martyr Agniveer Ajay Singh ji."

On the 1st of July, Defence Minister Singh had interjected Gandhi's maiden speech in the Lok Sabha, saying that the latter was deliberately misleading the House over the Agniveer scheme and that every martyr in the Indian Army, who comes under this scheme, gets a compensation of over Rs 1 crore.
