Court reserves verdict on Kejriwal's plea for insulin, medical check-ups

The Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi reserved its order on a plea moved by Delhi Chief Minster Arvind Kejriwal seeking insulin shots and regular medical check-ups while in jail.

Kejriwal has sought direction to Tihar jail authorities to administer insulin and allow him to consult his doctor through video conferencing daily for 15 minutes to keep his acute diabetes and fluctuating blood sugar in check.

Abhishek Manu Singhvi, representing Kejriwal, asked “How petty and political the ED can get. I will hover on the edge of death, just to get out on a medical bail? I’ve never seen this kind of pettiness in 75 years of independence.”

The Enforcement Directorate on Thursday accused Kejriwal of eating mangoes and sweets deliberately to raise his sugar levels and make grounds for medical bail.

The court will announce its verdict on Monday, April 22.
