Burari building collapse: Two dead, 12 rescued; rescue operations continue

In a tragic incident in north Delhi’s Burari area, an under-construction four-story building collapsed on Monday evening, leaving two dead and 12 others rescued from the debris. The deceased, identified as two girls aged 7 and 17, were among several trapped when the building suddenly gave way.

Rescue teams worked tirelessly through the night into Tuesday, with efforts led by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA). Local authorities fear that a few more individuals may still be trapped under the rubble as rescue operations continue.

The injured victims were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi Marlena assured that all necessary assistance is being provided to ensure the rescue work proceeds smoothly. "Our teams are doing everything possible to save lives and support affected families," she stated.

The incident has raised concerns over construction safety in the area, as investigations are expected to determine the cause of the collapse. Meanwhile, authorities remain focused on locating and assisting any remaining survivors under the debris.
