Delhi Crime: Man Arrested for Murder of Employer's Family

New Delhi, Jul 4 (PTI) - In a chilling turn of events, a 24-year-old man was brought back to New Delhi from Uttar Pradesh after allegedly committing the murder of his employer's wife and teenage son. The suspect, Mukesh Kumar, was apprehended on a train at Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction, a mere few hours after the brutal act was unveiled. Authorities are now working to uncover the exact motive behind these heinous crimes, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Hemant Tiwari.

The tragic incident unfolded in southeast Delhi’s Lajpat Nagar, where Kumar reportedly exacted an 'act of revenge' following a confrontation with Ruchika Sewani over unpaid wages amounting to Rs 45,000 and his frequent absenteeism from work. Kumar, originally from Hajipur in Bihar, was employed as a helper at a garment shop owned by Ruchika's husband, Kuldeep Sewani. With access to the Sewani household—used to store garments—Kumar exploited this privilege to enter the residence under the guise of collecting stock.

Brandishing a sharp weapon, he attacked 42-year-old Ruchika and her 14-year-old son before making a hasty escape with his belongings. The residence was found ransacked, prompting police to investigate potential theft. "We are questioning Kumar to understand the full sequence of events," stated a police official, highlighting the complexity of the case in determining not only the motive but also the extent of the crime.

Further probes are in progress, with the police considering bringing Kumar to the crime scene to piece together the entire sequence of the gruesome act. The investigation continues with multiple teams working tirelessly to piece together the motive and circumstances surrounding these shocking murders.
