Bomb Threats Target Five Delhi Schools in Three Days

New Delhi, Jul 16 (PTI): An email bomb threat sent shockwaves across five private schools in Delhi on Wednesday morning, leading to the immediate evacuation of the premises for a comprehensive inspection, according to officials. This incident marks the third consecutive day in which educational institutions in the national capital have been the target of bomb threats, with the past two incidents turning out to be hoaxes. Alerts were received starting with a call about an email threatening to blow up St Thomas School in Dwarka at 5:26 am by the fire control team. Vasant Valley School in Vasant Kunj received a threat at 6:30 am, followed by Mother International in Hauz Khas at 8:12 am, and Richmond Global School in Paschim Vihar at 8:11 am, reported a fire services officer. Sardar Patel Vidyalaya in Lodhi Estate was also on the list, receiving a threatening email, confirmed a senior police officer, who added that the school was thoroughly searched with no suspicious items found so far. School authorities informed parents via email, stating, "Due to a potential bomb threat received this morning, and as advised by the police, Sardar Patel Vidyalaya will remain closed today. A Bomb Disposal Squad is conducting a full sanitisation of the premises." This marks the second bomb threat within 24 hours for St Thomas School. In total, nine schools have received 10 bomb threat emails across the city. Staff residing overnight in these schools were immediately evacuated to safety as a precaution. Teams from Delhi Police, bomb disposal squads, dog squads, and cyber experts were on-site for comprehensive searches. So far, nothing suspicious has been found, according to an officer.
