Delhi Pushes for Youth in Yamuna Clean-Up

In a bid to rejuvenate the Yamuna River, Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood highlighted the critical role of youth engagement. At the 'Yamunotsav' event by Yamuna Sansad, Sood stressed on the need to raise awareness in schools and colleges for a cleaner Yamuna. Education, he noted, is pivotal in promoting environmental conservation. Delhi Water Minister Kapil Mishra echoed the sentiment, likening Yamuna's conservation to preserving cultural heritage, given its religious significance. Bürger attention, Mishra asserted, is vital, as responsibility lies with all Delhi citizens. Politicians like Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva, MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat, and MLA Raj Kumar Bhatia advocated transforming this initiative into a social movement, seeking cross-party support. The event discussed pressing issues such as pollution and public involvement in clean-up efforts. Organizers emphasized an integrated strategy of public engagement and policy support is necessary for a successful river clean-up.

**Delhi Minister Stresses the Need for Youth Awareness in Yamuna Clean-Up Efforts** In a concerted push to clean the Yamuna River, Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood highlighted the importance of involving younger generations in this environmental endeavor. Speaking at the 'Yamunotsav' event organized by Yamuna Sansad on Wednesday, Sood emphasized that raising awareness among students is crucial to achieving the goal of a cleaner Yamuna. "The mission to clean the Yamuna can only be successful if educational initiatives reach school and college students," Sood remarked, underscoring the role of education in environmental conservation. Complementing this sentiment, Delhi Water Minister Kapil Mishra stated that efforts to conserve and beautify the Yamuna floodplains are akin to nurturing cultural heritage, as the river holds significant religious and traditional importance for many. Mishra further emphasized that the rejuvenation and conservation of the Yamuna is not solely the government's responsibility but a duty shared by all citizens of Delhi. Prominent political figures including Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva, BJP MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat, and MLA Raj Kumar Bhatia also participated in the programme. Sachdeva called for the initiative to be transformed into a social movement, urging contributions from all political parties. The event focused on various issues plaguing the Yamuna, such as pollution, riverbank development, and the essential role of public involvement in cleaning efforts. Organizers stressed that successful river clean-up requires a multi-faceted approach, integrating public engagement with policy support.
